5 out of 5 stars Excellent choice   October 11, 2008
I just recently purchased the P90X workout program and it requires a chin up bar. The Everlast bar is perfect. It fits nicely in the doorway and is very strong.

4 out of 5 stars Pretty Decent Setup   October 10, 2008
Pro's - Pretty sturdy. I'm about 185 and find that this thing doesn't feel like it will snap in two. Easy to assemble.

Con's - The 'flat bar' that goes through the doorframe and provides the resistance against the opposite wall is terrible. It came with sandpaper on it to hold it to the wall! I mean say goodbye to that nice paint on the wall. I placed a 1/8" piece of same sized gum rubber over the sandpaper to go between it and the wall which does the trick.
The foam padding that rests on either side of the doorframe basically starts to tear after a week. They should have used a much more solid rubber based material. Same might eventually happen to the areas your hands grip, but have only used it for 2 weeks so far.

For what it is and does, its an acceptable product for the money. It seems that it will hold up a bit better than some of it's counterparts. Have fun doing chin-ups and pull-ups! They are my favorite exercise...NOT.

5 out of 5 stars Great exercise tool!   October 10, 2008
Great tool: well designed, light and portable. Would recommend to any exercise aficionado not willing to spend hundreds on gym membership. Having this thing and a spring expander one can carry a gym in his business suitcase or vacation duffel-bag anywhere in the world.

5 out of 5 stars Everlast multi function chinning bar   October 10, 2008
This is a great product that will support a lot of weight. I weigh about 250 pounds and it holds me easily. The only con is that it is not made for wide grip pull-ups. However, I highly recommend this product.

4 out of 5 stars Works great for me   October 9, 2008
Despite some of the negative reviews I ordered this bar anyway. It took me about 10 minutes to put it together, without instructions. Those having trouble must be missing a few brain cells.

The quality is good for the price. Not the greatest, but it holds my weight (180 lbs.) just fine, without feeling like it's going to come apart.

Having the bar sitting in my doorway is great; Every time I walk by I do 4 chin ups. It's so convenient that you get a workout without thinking about it. It's motivated me to get back into the gym and I've already seen a nice improvement. Using it for deeper push ups is great too. After using it for a week you'll almost double regular push ups.
