5 out of 5 stars A Pan for All Seasons   September 28, 2008

This griddle is even better than I thought it'd be when I bought it. First of all let me comment on the size of it. It seems the conventional way size is referred to for skillets and griddles is by measuring at the top of the pan, not at the bottom. So a 12-inch skillet has only 10-inches of diameter at the bottom. The fairly tall sloping sides render a 12-inch opening at the top.
The 1/2-inch sides of the griddle allow it to be 10 -inches at the top but it still has 9 -inches at the base. So the useful area at the bottom of the 10 inch griddle is only 11% smaller than the large and very heavy 12 inch skillet. I find myself reaching for this when I don't need a skillet for holding a large volume of food or for frying bacon. It's worth it just for the way pancakes and grilled sandwiches turn out. Grilled sandwiches should have a bit of crispness to them, I've never been able to get that with non-stick pans.
Following the instructions, I washed it in hot water before using. Then using a bit of bacon grease from the `fridge, I heated the pan, melted the grease and turned off the heat and let the pan cool. Then I wiped it off and sprayed with Pam. I've had no problems with pancakes sticking and eggs turn out perfectly. I'll keep a couple of non-stick pans for omelets and such but cast iron is the way I'm cooking most food ric. I bought a full range of skillets and the 5 and 7 qt. Dutch Ovens and have been happy with them all.
p.s. Some people have complained about the griddle not heating evenly; after I've pre-heated it, I move it to one side of my electric burner for about 30 seconds and then do the same for the other side. This seems to work well evening the temperature around the surface of the griddle. Pancakes and grilled cheese (my touchstone tests) come out perfectly done and evenly browned.

This is the best griddle ever! I use it for a pizza pan and the crust is allways perfect, and if you leave it in the pan, it stays warm until its all gone!
I also have the Lodgic bbq and nothing comes close to the quality and design of the products Ive purchased thus far from this company. Its also a cheap, non toxic, way to cook and the iron is free! I have a $100 skillet from Switzerland and it is a very nice product, but its Teflon and its basically toxic.
Iron is not. Plus its American made! ... what.. something not from China?
Thats right, and not only that, but its a Great American pruduct. Something we should support!

5 out of 5 stars Best Round Griddle ever !~!*   September 14, 2008
Just love the round griddle already seasoned and ready to make the best pancakes, corn cakes and endless FRIED to death yummies (crispy fried porkshops are not to be beat) - Super easy to clean and is good quality stuff. I just love LODGE LOGIC cast iron - its my alltime favorite. With good care this should last a long while. I just have to remember putting a light coat of veggie oil after cleaning - its worth the extra step -

5 out of 5 stars Great Pan - No Cleanup   September 2, 2008
Many, many years ago I used to have a cast iron pan I'd seasoned myself. It took years of special care: applying oils, wiping down, no soap, etc. Two reasons I bought this: I needed a pan to cook tortillas and I wanted a pan that was well-made, easy to care for, was up to daily use and wouldn't warp. I decided on a cast iron pan and I have no regrets about buying this. A little bit of butter and it was ready to go. The tortillas cook beautifully and taste great. Cleaning the pan is a breeze -rinse with hot water and dry with a paper towel. Its perfectly seasoned, cooks well, heats evenly, looks great and made me wonder why I stopped using my other cast iron pan. You want good tortillas, you can't go wrong with this. Oh, and I use it for eggs to put in a burrito (or not) and love it for them also.

5 out of 5 stars Great pan for crepes and indian dosas   August 29, 2008
This is my second lodge logic pan. This I had to put oil and season few times before I Could use it successfully(without stuff sticking to it). But now it works wondefully.
