1 out of 5 stars Do not buy this camera!!!! it is the worse camera ever   August 5, 2008

Do not buy this camera!!!! it is the worse camera ever. We were at the lake and the camera stopped working and you can see some water had entered the camera. I sent the camera in to Olympus and they told me that I have to pay $120 to get fix after I paid $400 for it and they actually told me that I have to send the camera every year to get it refurbish. After complaining about the misleading advertisement, the lady actually told me you can go to the web and express your feelings!!!! EVERY YEAR PAY $120 - IT IS NOT WORTH THE MONEY - AGAIN DO NOT BUY!!!!!

5 out of 5 stars Great for the casual user.   August 4, 2008

The Olympus Stylus 770SW is an easy to use digital camera for the casual user. It's strength is in it's ruggedness. This is not a camera that will please Pro photographers or videophiles. What do I mean by that? Well, while this camera takes very good pictures, both above and below water, it does not always take excellent or perfect pictures.

For daily use and use on vacation: You can abuse this camera! I would not go out of my way to try to damage it, but it will take a beating that would ruin another camera. Short drops, children, rain, even sitting on it by accident (yes, I have done that too), and no harm done.
Pictures turn out great in most cases. If you are not versed in digital photography, leave the settings on auto, or use one of the settings provided in the menu. There are settings available for all the common lighting and environments you will run into.

Bottom line: You can not buy a better waterproof camera for this price. There are some issues pointed out in other reviews that are valid. The screen can be washed out in bright light. You do need to purchase the Olympus XD card. To get the most out of the camera you need the Xd M+ card. It allows for longer video recording and unlocks some additional features in the software that comes with the camera. (Panorama shots require the M+ card)

I highly recommend this camera for your daily use and vacation camera. The picture quality and feature set are perfect for casual use.

5 out of 5 stars Very good camara!   August 3, 2008
I am a professional photographer, but when I go to Cancun every year I am so worried that my camara will get wet or damaged at the pool. This camara is perfect for that situation, it takes a nice picture and is very easy to use. Great for when we go snorkling!

5 out of 5 stars Great little camera! It does it all!   August 2, 2008
I received this camera a few weeks ago and it has been great so far. It takes good under water pics and movies (much better than those disposable cameras where you waste money developing the camera and getting only one or 2 good pics).

I also took it to the beach for my daughter's birthday and it worked great in and out of the water. It is nice to know that the camera can be dropped, get wet, and nothing will happen to it. The only slight negative that have seen is the the rechargeable battery does not last as long as I would like. I had to recharge it after taking about 100 pics and 10 minutes of video. I can live with that for the convenience of taking underwater shots and vids as well as the peace of mind knowing that my kids can drop the camera and it will not break.

One last thing...I am also impressed with how many features this little camera has. It has tons of shooting modes, slide show options, add audio to images, tons of stuff to play around with!

If you want an all in one point and shoot that can be dropped, go under water, with decent mega pixel and pay about $200. This camera is a really good deal!

5 out of 5 stars Very Pleased!   August 1, 2008
I have taken pictures in the pool and at the beach, both worked great. No problems leaking. Pictures are, in my opionion, good for a P&S camera. The screen is hard to see in sunlight. A viewfinder would be helpful. I still think it is a great deal for a small camera that can fit in your pocket and go in the water with no worries.
