4 out of 5 stars Great camera   November 11, 2008
This is my third digital camera dating back to 2001 and this is by far my favorite. The size is perfect for traveling and having around the house for those moments when you just want to snap a shot. The screen on the back is terrific and easy to see in almost all shooting conditions. The available light setting lets you go flash free in almost any conditions. Easy to use. Light. Great value.

4 out of 5 stars Nice Camera, Great Price on Amazon!   November 10, 2008
This camera takes very good pictures. I have not yet found a camera that takes flawless pictures upon movement of people. It is a very nice size and of course, the purple color is great! The clarity is good. The user friendliness of the software for editing is about a 7 on a 1-10 scale. Good camera for the price.

5 out of 5 stars Great feature packed camera-compact and easy to use   November 7, 2008

I did a LOT of research before deciding on the Stylus 1010. I'm so glad I did. This camera does a fantastic job, and delivers crisp pictures with true to life colors almost every time. The only problem I had was focusing in low lighting conditions (but I wasn't suprised either time, since the light was so low). The focusing is quick and there is little lag time between shots. It's so nice and compact, and the view screen in the back is huge. I really like the creative features like black and white or sepia choices. It also has the ability to frame shots, or super impose messages like "Happy Birthday" or "Congratulations." It's really a great little camera that's fun to use. I bought the 2 GB card, which was really worth it. With the 10megabite images, the internal memory gets used up fast. The card really is a must. I ended up buying the camera from Amazon, and it was delivered before the anticipated date of delivery. I also bought accessory packages from Cameta Camera, which was delivered as ordered, and before the anticipated delivery date. Total buying experience was A+. Now other members of my family are so impressed with this camera that they're thinking about buying one. Run, don't walk to buy this camera if you like to take pictures!

1 out of 5 stars Expensive Lesson Learned   October 31, 2008

I bought this camera as an upgrade to my ageing Canon Powershot A75. I have used olympus cameras in the past without issue, borrowed from friends. However, this camera takes terrible pictures, no matter how I played around with the scene modes or putting it on auto.

I admit I'm no great photographer, but I've taken literally 1000s of photos with my old camera and they look great - but I struggle to get 1 in 10 looking nice on the Olympus. Everything looks grainy, blurry or the wrong colour - even in daylight.

Unfortunately, the online store where I purchased the camera does not refund on poor choice, so I have lost all the money I spent, including on 2 olympus branded mem cards and batteries.

All I can say is this is definitely not a point and shoot - you have to be willing to play around with the settings like a pro, but even then there is no guarantee you will get a decent shot. Sometimes your shot will look great on the LCD, and then transferred to the PC, it looks terrible, no matter what resolution you choose.

Glad I bought it well before I needed it for my honeymoon, as I'm pretty upset at the waste of money, but at least I have time to get something else.

3 out of 5 stars Keep Looking   October 25, 2008

This is one of those times when I assumed the obvious and was wrong. Who knew that Olympus had decided that no one needed a date & time stamp on their photos... I use the camera for work related inspection photos and need that feature. A friend cautioned me to look at Canon before I bought but I didn't listen. Now the wife gets a barely used Stylus 1010 and I get to spend more money on a Canon SD880.
