Customer Reviews:
Fast read/write memory card October 22, 2008 Its great, fast and so far reliable. The little usb adapter is great too, this way you don't use battery power to xfer your photos.
Excellent Value - but be careful where you order it from... October 19, 2008 5 out of 5 found this review helpful
I purchased this package (Transcend 16GB SDHC CARD with Compact Card Reader) from Amazon.com about two months ago. The SD card was meant to be used in my Canon S5 camera. But I soon discovered that it works extremely well with the included card reader as an USB flash drive - much larger and faster than my SanDisk 4GB Cruzer Micro. So I ended up using it mainly for data backup and transfer between my laptop and desktop computers.
So far, the card has proven to be fast and reliable. As first I was skeptical about Transcend's speed rating of 'class 6', which means minimum 6MB/S when writing. But my own benchmark results (see Customer Images) showed that this card is capable of writing typical photo files at 10.5MB/S - nearly twice its specified minimum data transfer rate. Just for reference, the Sandisk 8GB EXTREME III claims a faster speed of 20MB/S, but it costs about twice as much per GB.
Based on my favorable experience, I recently ordered the same package from TheMemStore. To my surprise, this time I received only the SD card and no card reader (check my Customer Image to see the two different packages). Another difference I noticed is that the first package from Amazon was made in Taiwan, whereas the second one from TheMemStore was made in China. Perhaps this explains why several reviewers have reported poor reliability with this card?
Considering its low cost and respectable speed, this Transcend card is an excellent buy. But please, make sure that you order it from a reputable vendor only.
Big, Fast, and Affordable October 18, 2008 3 out of 3 found this review helpful
I bought this SD card for my Nikon D90 so I would never have to worry about running out of storage. The 16GB card allows for 2100 full-size, full-quality JPGs and nearly 1000 RAW. It's pretty fast too, and the included card reader is handy. Highly recommended if you need a ton of storage space and don't want to lug around more than one card.
Transcend works great with Zen October 17, 2008 I bought 3 of these cards for my Zen mp3 player. Works great, and have no compatibility problems.
16GB SDHC card working like a champ! October 17, 2008 So far this card is doing everything I've wanted it to do. If it ever quits doing everything I want it to do, it's got a lifetime warranty.
What more can I say?
Both the card and the reader are great. I'm using the card in a Panasonic fz28 camera, and everything is happy-happy.
I was planning to buy two smaller cards, but with this giant sucker, I never have to worry about running out of room.
