3 out of 5 stars OK DVD Player   May 4, 2008

This DVD player was a decent deal. The video quality is good and it remembers the last place on many DVDs to pick up at that point. The biggest negative that I can say is that it starts up slow and is slow to load in a DVD. It may be due to the advanced features loading. It tricks us sometimes by making us think that we didn't hit the on or off button. It's OK.

5 out of 5 stars Another great Sony Product   April 7, 2008

I have always had great success with Sony products and have always leaned towards them as a first option when purchasing new. Our previous DVD player was a Sony and had lasted for 11 years, through 3 young children and a move to a new house. The pick-up inside the unit was shot and it was time to shop for another.
I'm very pleased with the DVD Player, it's ease of setup and it's flexibility of controls during playback. The picture is graet and the sound is much more balanced than our previous Sony. As a bonus, all of the Library DVDs now play flawlessly, which really satisfies the 3 young children.....

1 out of 5 stars two for one deal   April 6, 2008

I was very disapointed in Amazon for linking this with my new LCD television as though it were a good deal. I was not familiar with these DVDs that upscale to 1080.. but leared i could get virtually the same thing from sony for half the price.

5 out of 5 stars Sony Upconverting Progressive Scan DVD   April 4, 2008

Excellent product. Image quality is definitely improved. Still looking forward to purchasing a Blu Ray player though, because you will still be playing SD DVDs which do not have as much information as a HD disc does.

5 out of 5 stars Try this before going Blu Ray   March 18, 2008

This inexpensive DVD player does a tremendous job of upscaling DVDs to 1080P using HDMI. If you get close to your HDTV, you can see some conversion artifacts, but back about 6 feet from my 40" Sony 1080P Bravia, the arifacts are negligible.

Yes, Blu Ray discs are superior, but not enough so to make me replace my DVD collection.
