4 out of 5 stars Kindle: Amazon's New Wireless Reading Device   July 25, 2008

just what I wanted so I don't have to take so many heavy books with me when I take transit or travel

5 out of 5 stars Love my Kindle!!!   July 25, 2008

I really do love my Kindle. It is easy to read, easy to buy books, easy to travel. I love the ease of changing font size--no more reading glasses when I'm reading in bed! The selection of books to purchase is great. I love that when I finish a book I can get another one instantly--no more trips to the store or waiting for an online order to be shipped.
There are a couple of downsides to it, but the positives far outweight the negatives. I was recently in NY and could not get a wireless signal to buy a book. I tried in my hotel room in Manhatten and again in the terminal at LaGuardia. I had books to read already on my Kindle, so I didn't need to buy a book right then--I was just testing the service. I know that before I travel I will make sure to download any books that I may want on the trip, that way I won't have to worry about where I may not have a signal. To me this won't be a big inconvenience, as I usually purchase books prior to travel anyway. The only other downside I have experienced so far has been the difficulty in turning back to something I have read. I have been using my Kindle for almost 3 weeks now & I have told everyone about it. It is my new favorite thing!

4 out of 5 stars Lovin' my new Kindle   July 25, 2008

I am really enjoying my Kindle. I really love the page turn tabs on both sides, it fits comfortably in my hand, the cursor is easy to use and best of all I only have to take one book when I travel - a huge, huge space saver and benefit.

Some thoughts for the future: After you have downloaded a book, there doesn't seem to be a way to get the summary of it from your home screen. I got a little carried away after I bought it and downloaded about 20 books. But after a few weeks I couldn't recall what they were all about. Also, I have hit the back tab a few times, unintentionally, and it took me to a contents page. This button could perhaps be located somewhere where you are less likely to tab accidentally. And I still prefer the sleek look of the Sony reader, but my Kindle wins out over all. Thanks

5 out of 5 stars Amaozon's Kindle- AMAZING   July 25, 2008

When I first heard about the Kindle, I was very curious and read everything I could about it. Of course I wanted one but thought I should wait. While waiting to get my oil changed....I noticed a man reading from a Kindle. I asked if I could see it and he was very happy in showing me how to work it and what all it could do. I was sold.. As sooon as I got back to work I purchased one and had it shipped to me the very next day...I couldn't wait any longer. I could not be happier. Very easy to use.
I absolutely Love the Amazon Kindle!!!

3 out of 5 stars The Kindle Library   July 25, 2008

The Kindle has been one of those items I have been watching and drooling over for months now. However, I am a college student and the cost is nothing to sneeze at. I have been doing A LOT of research to see if it is really worth the price.

The only complaint I REALLY have is the library seems to be limited on some important volumes. I understand that a lot of this is related to copyright issues, but it is still something to be considered. I looked up "The Modern Library" list of the 100 best novels and very few of them are available in the Kindle library. At the end of the day it isn't really enough to sway me away from purchasing the Kindle, as I have found some very useful and enjoyable books available, and the library IS ever growing. Just something to put on your pro's and con's list if you're like me and trying to decide on what gadget you can't live without THIS year. :)
