1 out of 5 stars Don't waste your money.   May 14, 2008

This was not an expensive product, however I would have assumed that it would have lasted longer than 30 days. Don't waste your money.

1 out of 5 stars Short-lived   May 14, 2008

We bought two of these from Sam's Club and both died within 3 months. At first we thought it was a battery problem but then we discovered both toothbrushes took water into the battery chamber. It was pretty yucky in there and despite cleaning the chambers and replacing the batteries the units both died an ugly death. I liked the way it made my teeth feel really clean and will likely upgrade to a unit that does not require batteries.

5 out of 5 stars Teeth are happy   May 11, 2008
I've had my Xtreme e3000 for about 3 months now and have no complaints. The Amazon price was considerably cheaper than buyinng it locally. I just wish I'd gone ahead and ordered the replacement brushes at the same time, but some of the other reviews gave me pause. I can state that the unit I received seems to be pretty well sealed against water getting into the battery compartment. The batter cap has a rubber o-ring seal and there are no holes in the cap, nor any at the other end where the brush attaches. Maybe earlier models are prone to water damage, but mine has not been a problem. I routinely give it a quick rinse and towel it dry and have never found moisture in the battery compartment.

Batteries only last a couple of weeks and the unit lets you know you need new ones by simply shutting itself off after just a couple of seconds. The first time this happened I thought the unit might be defective, since I expected it to just run down and get really slow, but fresh batteries brought it immediately back to life. AA alkaline batteries can still be used in low-draw appliances, such as wall clocks, calculators, TV remotes, etc. long after they will no longer power this toothbrush, so penny-pinchers and recyclers can eke out a few more cents worth of every battery, but you'll probably break down and buy rechargable batteries before long. I did.

I guess my only complaint would be that I ordered the orange model and received the blue. However, I really don't care about the color, I just picked the first one that appeared on the search screen. So I really don't have a complaint, but those of you who are picky about color be advised, Amazon does occasionally make mistakes.

1 out of 5 stars Absolute Garbage   April 13, 2008

This lasted about one week before dying. The battery compartment is seriously flawed. It should have been designed with a screw on top with the o-ring, like a flashlight, instead of a push on top. It will not seal properly. Do not waste your money on this toothbrush.

2 out of 5 stars Great while it works   April 12, 2008
This toothbrush is wonderful, when it is working. Unfortunately, serious design flaws allow moisture to enter the battery compartment and corrode the battery contacts. This is mildly annoying, at first, because you can usually get it going by tapping the toothbrush on the counter top. Eventually, after a month or two, the battery contact will be so corroded that no amount of tapping will help and you have to go in with something abrasive (like sandpaper) to clean up the battery contact. You would be better off with one of the rechargeable models that have sealed handles.
