The Only Golf Lesson You'll Ever Need August 18, 2006 Although the author is wordy in his explanations about why he teaches the way he does, his "fixes" are easy to understand and practice. I got definite help with my slice. It's a book that I continue to refer to as I work on improving my swing.
Best Golf Lesson Ever July 23, 2005 Tiger Woods picked the right guy -- I am a 7 handicap and this is the best golf instruction book I have ever read (Nicklaus, Hogan, Woods, Watson, Harmon, Penick, Couples, Floyd, etc.). The one-plane angle concept is so technically sound and the only golf-aid you need to dramatically improve your swing is a mirror. Excellent pictures help capture exactly what Hank is explaining. At any level, this book is a cornerstone for building a bomb-proof golf swing. Most importantly, hit good shots and enjoy it -- instead of going to find it :)!

I agree with everything you said! I would like to confirm that the writing and/or editing needs improvement at the very least. I was irritated by the confusing phrases and clauses, and poor punctuation. It's hard to make any sense of what he's talking about (sorry). And thank God I didn't pay full price; I borrowed it from the local library and took it back.

I have read many golf instruction books but this one by Hank Haney has to be one of the best. The photographs are very good and illustrate the principles discussed extremely well.I finally found a swing thought that controls my reverse pivot problem that often ruins my drive. The grip and alignment advice helped greatly the first time I went out on the course. If you only read one book on golf instruction, this is the one to buy.
Great book for troubleshooting September 30, 2003 3 out of 3 found this review helpful
Excellent book for discovering the common flaws and how to correct them. I first read "Ben Hogan's Five Fundamentals". I would recommend it also, but Haney's book shows you the possible flaws creating your bad shots. Hogan tries to explain getting on plane for better shots, while very important, it doesn't give you immediate results.I have only been playing the game for 5 weeks. I'm now addicted. After reading Haney's book, I went out and broke 100 two days in a row and hit par for 3 holes in a row. I was usually a huge hack at 115 even though I went to the driving range at least 4 times a week and played 18 holes on the weekend. If someone is willing to commit to practice until their swing becomes more second nature, this book will help you straighten things out. As I swing the club more, I become more aware of what I am doing and realize my errors when Haney points them out. As with everything in life, there are no shortcuts, in order to be good and excel one must apply himself and practice, practice, practice.
