5 out of 5 stars A Must Read.   May 28, 2008
This is a window in to a life lived with purpose. Randy talks about realizing childhood dreams, however this book is a roadmap for realizing dreams formed at any age.

5 out of 5 stars A Timeless Classic   May 27, 2008

First off, let me say that this is my first review of a book on Amazon. You could say that I was overwhelmed by compulsion to write one.

The most important things about this book, in my opinion, will largely be insufficient to most readers, indeed my thoughts seem incomplete. You could credit Randy Pausch for writing one of the most genuine, heartfelt lessons on the Best Sellers list today.

My hope is that anyone who reads this book will appreciate the use of language and vividness of it. It was truly a joy and my fingers never grew weary of the page turning.

Of course, all of this would be irrelevant were it not for the inarguable wisdom contained within. Those nuggets that I would disservice him by distilling into summation.

Bottom line, read this book! I can think of no greater gift for anyone of any walk of life. This is not merely an enthusiastic surge that will quell with time. No, this book will remain with me forever.

5 out of 5 stars Hooray for Tigger!   May 27, 2008
I had the pleasure of listening to The Last Lecture several times on several trips from our home to Carnegie Mellon University. I treasure EVERY word because there is something to be learned from every one of them. The last trip was to our daughter's graduation from Carnegie Mellon University where Randy Pauch put in a surprise visit. It was a moment I will never forget. Hooray for Tigger!

2 out of 5 stars already been said before...   May 27, 2008

I'm really sorry about what this guy is going through, but then again millions of people do and don't get to write a book about it.

I think it's bloody ridiculous that the main selling point of the book is almost a word-word copy of what was said over 50 years ago by Indian Prime Minister Jawaharlal Nehru ""Life is like a game of cards. The hand you are dealt is determinism; the way you play it is free will."

So it just may confirm some people's suspicions that everything worth saying has been said before.

3 out of 5 stars choppy pages   May 27, 2008

I'm enjoying the context of this book however I was very disappointed in the condition of this book. I was happy I hadn't ordered it as a gift as the pages look as though they were cut with a dull paper cutter. The pages are ragged and uneven. If I saw a book in this condition in a store I would not have bought it.
