A Hole in One! February 27, 2004 2 out of 2 found this review helpful
Paul Chek's Golf Biomechanic's book shows us there is more to a sport and how to get more from your game with functional core and coordination exercises corectly. I use this book to show my clients where they are lacking in their swing and when their muscles are not `turning on'. The diagrams are detailed and correct for amateur and for the elite athlete. At my clinic, JS Strength and Health, I also use Gold Biomechanic's for the elite Equestrian riders. Because strength and coordination can be weak at any level and this book show us parallels between many sports.
Achieve Your Golf Potential! February 19, 2004 2 out of 2 found this review helpful
This book is a must have conditioning manual for any golfer, hacker or professional. It is also a great reference tool for exercise profesionals. You will learn how to stretch, warm-up, and improve your strength & power specifically for golf. Everything in the book is based on sound prinicples of how our bodies work. It also takes into account individual differences and ability levels.
A great book and not just for golfers! February 2, 2004 4 out of 4 found this review helpful
I have spent the past 10+ years in the fitness industry working several years as a strength and conditioning coach and the past five or so years as a corrective exercise specialist. I picked this book up because a local golf pro had been referring me a great many of his golfers for injury rehabilitation and "core conditioning." My knowledge of the game of golf was minimal but having had good success with Mr. Chek's rehabilitation protocols; I purchased this book along with three other books that showed good Amazon ratings. This book was by far the best of the four and also proved invaluable in conditioning and rehabilitation for tennis and hockey players (also rotation dominant sports). With simple terminology, a great deal of diagrams, and a systematic approach Chek describes how to assess yourself for muscle imbalance and movement restrictions, what the affect will be on your golf game, and how to correct the problems uncovered. Chapters include: Stretching, How to Warm-up for Golf, Functional Exercise, Strength Training, and Power Training. Special emphasis is placed on how to design a program for the individual golfer and avoiding the "one size fits all" approach. Proper progression, sets, reps, tempos, and rest periods are indicated for each exercise and abdominal wall function and core conditioning are integral components of each phase of training. Following the programs in this book (there are enough to keep you busy for a year if you periodize them properly) has helped my golfers not only lower their golf score, but lose weight, and eliminate shoulder, elbow, back pain and neck pain as well. The book is good.
Incredible book for improving your golf swing January 28, 2004 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
I have successfully changed the lives of my golf clients using this profound approached. If you use the information obtained from this book correctly it will change your golf game forever. Did I mention you can actually play this game without your body paying the price also. If you don't believe me read this book!!!!
