It's a joy to have this horse shoe tossing set up in the back yard. I know the distance is supposed to be 40 feet between the two stakes but that's too far for me and my yard is a small one. In any event, it's a great way to spend time with friends and/or family. In addition, I love that the equipment is made of metal. Solid metal. Not one iota of plastic. So, a touch of weight training is part of the game too.
Get a set. Get fit. Have fun!
 Good for the price July 29, 2008
These horseshoes are fine for a family looking to have some backyard fun. They are sturdy enough for play and the paint holds up better than I had anticipated. All in all they are perfect for what I am looking for, nothing fancy just functional. I wish the posts would be longer to get them deeper into the ground but I suppose they are a standard size.

I have four teenagers and really wanted something to entertain them as well as give them some exercise....not a video game(smile). We love this set of horse shoes. We play teams and it gives bonding time, plus the exercise doesn't hurt anyone.

This is a good quality horseshoe set and includes instructions for setting up your play area and rules for play. I recommend it.

This is a great set of official horseshoes for anyone who is interested in the game. These shoes are the only ones still MADE IN THE USA. All the other sets are imported, you can double check, but it's true. The shoes are made of drop-forged steel and are coated with a textured, non-slip grip that allows you to better control your throws. The stakes are solid steel also so they won't break or bend when the shoes hit them. This company (St.Pierre Manufacturing) has been around for a long time and stands behind their product. And their customer service is good too. I lost the rulebook that comes with my shoes and they sent a new one the very next day. The shoes meet the official size and weight requirements of the governing body of professional horseshoe players (the National Horseshoe Pitcher's Association (NHPA)). These are great shoes and a good value for the money. Give them a try. You won't be disappointed.
