Product Description The Freeplay Kito Flashlight is a simple, rugged, reliable light - anytime, anywhere. This self-powered flashlight combines the independence of trusted Freeplay wind-up technology with the reliability of LED illumination. A quick 60 second wind of the Kito provides an hour of illumination. The more you wind, the longer it shines. The crank may be turned in either direction, and the harder you crank the more energy you create. It has a non-removeable rechargeable Ni-MH 3.6 volt battery pack, with a 10mm ultra bright white LED. The ergonomic handle is made of tough glass-reinforced nylon, and the gear train is made from glass reinforced nylon and acetyl, dissimilar engineering plastics that dramatically increae the life of the gear train. The gear train has undergone accelerated lifetime testing in excess of 500,000 cycles. Accelerated lifetime testing of the batteries reflect no significant capacity loss even after 10,000 30 second crank charge cycles. Two colors are available, solid yellow and transluscent blue.

Honest review of this light July 14, 2007 6 out of 6 found this review helpful
I ordered this light and it arrived a week later to Iraq. I needed a flashlight that did not use batterys after running out several times due to the terrorists blowing up the convoy trucks.
I work at night and use a flashlight about 4-5 hours a night.
It works longer than a hour actualy I have had almost 3 hours of usable light with a bunch of cranking (was expermenting with new toy)
The light is not too bright however as my AA maglight is bringer. But the trade offs are no more buying batterys or messing around with recharger.
To get the really bringht light that lasts for about 30 min you have to crank it about 200 turns. After that a few cranks here and there and you will have bringht light all night.
I store it outside in a locker. the extreme heat or maybe storage over a couple of days will let the charge go down a bit. A couple of cranks and it is back up though.
I dropped it a couple of times and it has gotten some scratches on it already. One time I dropped it from about 15 feet and the lense/switch came apart (the black part around the lense in the photo) It slid back in and when i pushed it and works.
I dont know about water resistance as the next rain will be in maybe 4 or 5 more months.
All in all it seems to work well. A bit too big for the pocket bt the handle works with gloves on.
Worth the 20 bucks and fast shipper.
