About Bag Boy
The first Bag Boy cart was designed and made by Bruce Williamson in Portland, Oregon in 1945. The original golf cart was made out of two lawn mower wheels with flat tires mounted on an up-and-down folding, spring-suspension chassis, which could be attached to a standard golf bag. Following this original concept, Bruce Williamson and his partner, E. Roy Jarman formed the Jarman-Williamson Company in 1946 and manufactured these basic carts from sand castings and aluminum tubing. To make the cart last longer and keep it free from expensive repairs, all the parts were designed to be bolted together making it possible to easily replace damaged parts. Die-castings were introduced into the manufacturing process in 1947 and round-shaped zero pressure tires on dish wheels were added to the up-and-down folding chassis mechanism.

In 1957, Bruce Williamson sold his interest to Roy Jarman, but the company name was retained until 1967 when it was changed to The Jarman Company. By then, the company was marketing its own golf bag, the Cart-Mate, which was designed to attach to the Bag Boy cart by means of a few part changes. With continuous improvement in both design and methods in all products and procedures, the Bag Boy Company had grown to be international in scope. In 1993, AMF Industries bought The Bag Boy Company and relocated it to Richmond, Virginia making it a division of The Ben Hogan Company. When the Hogan Company was sold to Spalding in 1997, a small group of managers and employees, along with the current owner, held The Bag Boy Company out of the sale to run as a stand alone company.

4 out of 5 stars Good product   July 7, 2008
Nice bag. Only real shortfalls are the smallish side pockets (due to the revolver mechanism taking up so much of the interior bag space. Lucky if I can fit two cans of beer in each cooler pocket... :>)

The clips that secure the strap on pull & ride carts is a nice feature and it's nice that my clubs don't smash together due to the locking system. Not sure if it will still secure clubs as it gets older, but time will tell.

This bag turned out to be better than I thought. Great craftmanship.
This is a big bag and when full, you probably would not want to carry this bag to far. I love how much room there is.

My mother-in-law purchased this item and my husband and I liked it so much that I bought it for my husband for his birthday. It's a little on the heavy side, but great for organizing clubs. I'm looking forward to getting one for myself.

4 out of 5 stars Almost perfect ...   June 24, 2007

When I play golf (about 4-6 times a week), I like my bag organized ... no searching for a club, tees, jacket, etc., knowing where everything is located to save time. This bag does all of the above and I enjoy using it, once it's on the cart. It also helps one identify quickly if a club is missing, because one will spot the empty club holder in the revolver top. The revolving top is great because you don't need to rearrange your clubs if one day you drive and the next day you're the rider. Just turn the top and you can get whatever club you need. One only needs to shift the putter from the outside holder, from one side to the other.

Above, I stated I enjoy the bag once it's on the cart. I say this because there are not enough "handles" to easily pick the bag up. I'm 5'2" tall and weigh 98 lbs (female) and it is a task for me to get this into and out of my car easily. It's also very heavy (and I carry no more than 6 balls at a time and 14 clubs), so heavy that I now need to drop the bag off at the bag drop rather than carry it myself, which I used to do. It works well on a pull/push cart though, I don't even notice the weight. So ladies beware. This is the reason for the 4****.

I have had a few men comment to me that they really like the bag BUT they have had the outside putter holders break off after a year of use. This is my first year and so far so good. I'll update this if it turns out to be true for me as well.

All in all a good product that could use a women's version (less weight and maybe a better carry strap for across the back) and maybe a tube holder for the putters to avoid breakage.
