Creative Zen X-Fi 32 GB Video Player August 18, 2008 0 out of 1 found this review helpful
I love my new Zen! The sound is awesome. The picture and video quality is fantastic. I love the size and the look of it. I'm so glad that I purchased it and would highly recommend it to others.
Delighted Buyer August 13, 2008 2 out of 2 found this review helpful
Zen X-Fi mp3 player is the cat's meow. It works!!! If sync problems occur, it easily recovers by punching the reset button (other players I had did not have a reset). The battery life is extreamly long between charges. It has the ability to add more capacity using SDHC flash memory (functional external memory interface, but could be vastly improved). I do not use the Creative software. I have been using the Windows Media Player.
Some have complained about the nine button cluster used to navigate the menus. I found it to be confusing at first. But after working with it a short while, it became second nature to work the buttons to achieve desired results.
If music quality (execellent), small size, and player functionality are the most important to you, consider this player. I was disappointed by another brand twice (had to return them to Amazon). I am delighted with this purchase and recommend the leather carry case as a must have item.
Potentiall great but actuall terrible August 7, 2008 1 out of 8 found this review helpful
I tried to like this player but alas, here is a list of serious complaints:
- Build quality: awful, the casing began coming apart after two weeks of careful use - Software: abysmal and slow both on the unit and PC (actually, the PC software is essentially unusable in my opinion) - Navigation: Buttons are hard to press and often need to be pressed twice. - X-fi: makes some music sound great, makes most other music sound like crap
Result? Returned after two weeks. I highly recommend not buying this player.
Couldve been so much better August 2, 2008 3 out of 16 found this review helpful
I just bought the 32 gb zen x-fi, and returned it after 3 days. The UI was a joke & hard to navigate. The software that came with it? Pathetic. the 9 keys? retarded design. The player also froze on me 4 times and i had to do a reset to turn it back on. The software that came with it automatically loaded whatever files were in the "my videos" and "my pictures" and "my music" folders. I have like 200 gb between all 3 folders. So my player was instantly loaded with crap. The video converter was crap to. it took my avi's and cut the resolution in half. But the speaker worked well. The only way I was able to erase everything, was to format the disk. POS. stay away. They need alot of work on this thing. In theory, everything seems great about this player, except for the obvious SD slot shortcomings. But in reality, its not worth the effort.
Pros:
- SD slot for expandability (though not integrated with players memory) - FM radio - Built In Speaker - Voice Recording - Decent earbuds - Large Screen on compact player
Cons:
- Craptastic Software - Unfriendly User Interface - Retarded Button design (The previous zen's is much better) - Software Freezes
With a player with this many problems that interfere with regular daily use, Im playing with the thought of just getting an.... (shutter) ... iPod.
Amazing player, Awful software July 29, 2008 6 out of 6 found this review helpful
This player is fantastic! It sounds amazing, looks cool, and has tons of features. This thing is the size of a credit card and weighs next to nothing.
The thing that sets this player apart is all the extras it has. FM Radio, SD card support, divx and xvid video, microphone, wifi and external speaker. No other player has this many features! It sounds phenomenal and the video playback is fantastic. One of the coolest things about the player is that you can delete files without plugging it into the computer.
With that said, it still has its flaws. The software that it comes bundled with (called Centrale) is atrocious. It doesn't have a syncing feature, it's extremely slow, and doesn't upload album art automatically. Uploading my 20gb of music took 5 hours! If you drag and drop in windows explorer it takes about 90 minutes. This program was supposed combine all the creative programs into one easy to use package but it is hard to use and has too many flaws. I ended up using the old Creative Sync Manager to upload the songs.
Pros: +Fantastic Sound +SD Card Support (you can double the size for $100!) +FM Radio with great reception +External speaker sounds surprisingly good +Videos look great +Customizable Menu and Themes
Cons: -Awful software -Not Divx Certified (only plays certain types of divx, message me if you want to know how to convert easily) -Interface takes a while to get used to -WiFi is just a gimmick (for now)
Overall, I am extremely happy. It's a great player with a ton of features; I'm just hoping Creative will start to spend more time on their software.
