Amazon.com Product Description
Combining stylish looks with power sport timing and heart rate monitoring features, this mid-sized Timex Ironman Triathlon watch (model T59751) can be worn by both men and women. It features a chest strap heart rate monitor, easily accessible function buttons, and Timex's comfortable doubleshot polyurethane strap. For integrating heart rate monitoring into your training, this watch enables you to track your avareage heart rate and pre-set target heart rate zones with data for time spent within that zone and alarms. It can also display data for calories burned and offers a recovery timer that measures your heart rate after a timed recovery during or after your workout. Sport timing features include:
  • 100-hour chronograph with lap and split, either in large digits
  • 30-lap memory with average heart rate per laps
  • 100-hour, 3-mode countdown timer
  • Alarm with 5-minute backup
  • Month/day/date display with 12/24-hour time
  • 2-year battery life

The Indiglo night-light uniformly lights the surface of the watch dial using patented blue electroluminescent lighting technology. It uses less battery power than most other watch illumination systems, enabling your watch battery to last longer. The Night Mode feature allows you to illuminate the Indiglo night-light for 3 seconds with any button press, regardless of the mode or function. The watch is water resistant to 50 meters (165 feet)--suitable for swimming but not for diving. All Timex heart rate monitor sensors have batteries that can be replaced by consumers without requiring them to be returned to the manufacturer.

Product Description

5 out of 5 stars Reliable heart rate monitor   June 4, 2008
I was interested in a simple watch with basic features to monitor heart rate and times. The Ironman is compact and works flawlessly with the heart monitor strap. I am extremely pleased with this product.

3 out of 5 stars Product quality issues but nothing major.   March 16, 2008
I've owned my monitor for one year. I don't know how I ever trained without one. That said, my monitor has also had some issues. The ring to hold the band in place became brittle and cracked/broke and came off several months ago. I now use a band of duct tape in its place. I have also had issues with its accuracy, but I find that I can fix it with a battery replacement in the chest strap (which if find to be so comfortable that I don't even feel it when I'm wearing it.) I can replace the battery myself, so that's a cheap fix. I use the monitor five days a week for 1 to 2 hours, so I'm not sure if having to replace the battery four times in a year is unreasonable or not. I can usually tell that the battery is dying when I start seeing Max HR 240 reads showing up. The chest strap MUST be wetted before you put it on if you hope to get it to read well. I have never had a problem with it picking up other signals from machines or other HR monitors. After reading other reviews, I do think that it's a good HR monitor provided that you don't mind the look of a little duct tape.

2 out of 5 stars Good watch, terrible heart rate monitor   December 11, 2007

As a runner I have to say that the Timex Ironman Watch was a real disappointment. This product is totally overrated (I really don't know how they got the authorization to put the Ironman logo on it, since it does not even work correctly under easy training conditions). If you are serious about running/exercising/competing and looking for a good heart rate monitor watch to control your performance, you better look for another product. It ramdomly goes crazy while training and/or competing, chest strap is too tight and watch size is perfect for small women or skinny guys, not real men.

3 out of 5 stars Great watch, mediocre heart sensor..   October 26, 2007

I love the watch and sensor, when it worked. I had to replace the battery after only one use. Put in a fresh battery and got to use it for one work out. Then it just stopped transmitting. Major disappointment because I loved the set up. This is the first time a Timex product failed me.

4 out of 5 stars Very good heart rate monitor and stopwatch   October 13, 2007

I have had several heart rate monitors all from Polar. They all worked well but I thought I would try a less expensive brand. This was less than half the price of the Polars. I wasn't looking for every possible feature. I have had top of the line models and I never used all of the features. This one has just enough for me.

This worked right out of the box. The heart rate worked and measured correctly. Set up was very simple. Timex does a good job with the instruction manual. The Polar manuals I find to be overly complicated. Maybe that's why I didn't use all of the features.

This a midsize, which being a guy, I have preferred over the big "man's" models.

My only complaint is that the chest strap is tight. I have it lengthened as much as possible and it is just enough to fit. Very large people would have a problem with this.

I have had this watch for a few months and it works great.
