Editorial Reviews:

Product Description
Watch movies anytime and anywhere you want with Sony's cool DVP-FX820 Portable DVD Player. With a 6-hour battery life, an 8" high-resolution swivel screen that provides a clear and crisp picture from any angle, 2 headphone jacks for sharing, and a car adapter that ensures your movies outlast even the longest road trip. And when you want more than movies, the FX820 plays your CDs or MP3s, and lets you view your personal photo albums. Control buttons are located on the screen bezel for ease of use. Skipping or fast forwarding a scene is so easy to do, either with the control buttons or with the dual-sensor remote control. This portable DVD player is so lightweight and compact that you can carry it anywhere you go. Though it is designed for adults, its durability is certainly built for kids.

5 out of 5 stars Great DVD Player   July 18, 2008
We have had this DVD player for 2 months now - bought it for long car and plane trips. The swivel and flip is great, we have it mounted in the car and this makes it easy to turn toward the front seat so I can get the dvd going for the kids. The picture is great, the player does not stop when you stop the car like some do. We have not had any problems at all. I spent a month researching and this one seemed the most solid, so far so good!

5 out of 5 stars Nice one   July 18, 2008
This is the most pretty portable DVD player on the market now. And it does improve in vedio quality compared to previous model. Trust Sony's picture you will be happy

5 out of 5 stars Superb monitor as well as a DVD player   July 17, 2008
I use this portable player as a larger monitor than the cam's swing out LCD both framing, focusing and for shooting angles where the flip out is less than practical.

The screen will twist and flip so it is lying flat against the player which makes it easier to mount on a bracket for tripod use.

The speakers are about as tinny as all the other portables, but that is why they have a headphone jack on these portables and speaking of that this one has two built in headphone jacks.

All the controls are handily on the bottom of the screen section so are accessible even when you have the unit folded against the player portion and it also comes with a remote control.

The resolution of this portable's monitor is hands above any other I have owned, used or seen.

The battery lasts a pleasantly nice amount of time as well.

It has played DVD-R, -RW, +R and +RW, DL, CD, CD-RW, MP3 and digital photos for me in both 4:3 and 16:9 dimensions.

Not sure what else you could ask out of a portable unit, fully recommend this player/monitor.

5 out of 5 stars The best in portable DVD player   July 13, 2008
I have a red version and purchase it from a different vendor because Amazon only carried black at the time. But they are functionally the same.

Amazing resolution and stereo sound. This player comes with an excellent remote control, but it is a pain to operate the player without it. Excellent battery life too, mine last at least 4 hours, plenty for a flight from Texas to California.

5 out of 5 stars Great Buy!   July 13, 2008
I ordered and received this product a little over a month ago. I read so many reviews on this website (for at least 5 models of all different brands) before i decided on this model. Although I orginally wanted a larger screen I chose this one because of all the wonderful reviews (thanks!). I bought it to use on a couple of flights out to the midwest and it was great. Picture quality is wonderful and the battery lasted for the whole flight (3.5 hours) and i still had plenty of battery life left afterwards. And that was even with the default light settings not the minimum like they suggest for extended battery life. And the sound is great too. For one flight i was in the very back seat, right next to the engine i believe, and altho i had the sound up the whole way it was enough to hear over everything. Overall i definatly think this product is worth it. If you can pull yourself away from the urge to buy a larger screen i would choose this one over a 9 or 10 inch one anyday.
Hope this was helpful.
