tempoary lockable storage. July 30, 2008
I have two, it is fine for quick storage, but it isn't a "safe". If you were going to the beach it would be fine for locking up valuables and then using the cable to secure them under the seat in a car.
I purchased from two different vendors, they both came with the same lock. It is simple, quick storage and if the cable is used to secure it to something else it is a slight deterrent, but I wouldn't want to hold my valuables in it. The cable is equivalent to a laptop anti theft cable. If somebody wants it and they have the time they will get it.

I was going to add a more sophisticated safe in my trunk. Something that bolts down and more heavy duty. However, I purchased this for $$ reasons and that it did not require any mounting difficulties.
I really like this safe for its convenience. It fits perfectly under my seat and any prying eyes will not be able to see it there. I was afraid that if someone broke into my car they could pop the trunk release and then see a safe in there, there-by causing more damage trying to steal it or its contents. If they break into my car now, it's possible that they may not even look under the seats...maybe.
But in my scenario, if they do look under the seats and find the safe, if they have bolt cutters with them, they will probably be able to steal it. The wire, although strong is not very thick; although it will definately stop the average thief from smash and grab.
That being said, it is easy for the owner to get much thicker wire and "upgrade" his own safe.
If you are looking for an in-expensive and reliable safe that is easy to mount, this is a very good safe.
Good Product for Price May 20, 2008
Can't beat the product for the price. It works well for what it is intended: as a temporary secure storage for my pistol. I would have preferred a push button entry system for convenience.
 Needs a little more height but is ok with compression to lock it up. April 29, 2008

With compression of the lid and inner foam over a full size 9 mm and even compact 9 mm handguns one can close and lock the box, but that and the cable arrangement can cause some gap around the front edges. For the price it seems an ok delaying device to prevent someone easily stealing after breaking into a car.

I have had the safe for a month and I am very pleased with the product. It was a great price (through Amazon and The Sportsman Guide) and is small enough (barely 2" thick) to fit almost anywhere. I have mine attached to and under my front passenger seat. Fits full size Glocks well. Also fits the subcompact Glocks with the magazine out and there is even room for another small object. The included keys are double sided which I believe would be harder to pick the lock. My only complaint is that there seems to be a small gap between the two sides of the safe when it is closed. Otherwise it is a decent product for the money. I would both buy another one and also recommend it to anyone interested in a small safe for their vehicle.
