TOTAL GARBAGE July 6, 2008 0 out of 1 found this review helpful
Doing software support, I'm fairly technically savvy but being 60 I don't have the remaining life expectancy necessary to make this thing work. I doubt the people that designed it could make it work. I can't get it to work with just one Dish Network dvr. You can probable get one for under $50 that would have to work better than this trash.
Harmony ONE is the ONE for me. July 5, 2008 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
I just wanted to add a good universal remote that I can take with me when I do not sit in my main seat in my theater. I already own a MX3000 which I leave next to my main seat and use its RF capability. I also own a Sony Navitus but it seems to be on its last leg again. So I was between the H1000 and this ONE. I decided to try the ONE because I wanted a remote that would only need one hand instead of two. Plus having the hard buttons for most of my equipment makes it easier to control them. I set up the ONE to control my Sony VPL VW200 PJ, DVDO VP50pro, Onkyo 885 PRO, Onkyo HD805 HD DVD player, Pioneer Blu ray player, JVC HM-DT100 U DTHEATER D-VHS unit, DirecTV HR21 200 PRO, Lutron Maestro dimmers and believe it or not a Carada Masquerade Masking System. All were in their database except for the Masquerade System which was easy to add. The Harmony ONE gets the job done. All of my equipment is working nicely using it. It did take a couple of hours going back and forth and tweaking it. The easy enough to use system is a perfectionists dream. If you decide you want to rename one of your units then it is very east to just plug it back in and do so. I also liked adding some fun pics for the slide show. And of course after reading up on the ONE at AVS forum I was able to find a link(squareeyesiconharmony) that provided all of the channel logos which really make the Harmony cool when watching TV. Just remember to donate a few bucks to the websites creator for taking the time to set all of that up for free. So finally I would conclude saying that after I have set it all up my Wife can easily use it. I am glad I purchased this remote. It gives a great bang for the buck when compared to its competition on the market. Harmony ONE is the ONE for me.
After a long setup it works perfectly July 5, 2008 It took me abou t 3 hours of setups and testing to fine tune the way my equipments respond. The preset commands from Logitech leaves out a lot of useful commands of the OEM remotes. The initial setup use is very easy to do, but a few commands I had to use the learning feature of the Logitech One. It has a IR receiver at the bottom of the remote. After that its only joy!
Harmony One is a great device July 5, 2008 It is very easy to program and works with all types and ages of equipment. It has replaced six other remotes. A good product.
Marginally Better Than The $20 Remote It Replaced July 3, 2008 Highly complex to setup. Toggle controls on many of my electornic components (eg, on/off, input)greatly complicate setup and limit utility of the remote, particularly the key/central "Activities" function of the remote. Was able to duplicate remotes for 3 of the electonic components in my TV/Audio syem suffficiently to replace those remotes for most functions - - but my old $20 Universal R5 did about as well. Could not duplicate my LG DVD/VCR Recorder sufficiently to eliminate use of the decicated LG remote for more demanding functions, like recording. Setup and setup changes of the Logtech Remote must be done on a Logtech web site. Setup settings are stored on the web site, you are unable to store/save settings independently. Device has an overlly sensitivity touch screen with small buttons (frequent entry errors), and mechanical controls are also small and hard to push. Does not have a refined feel to my hands.
