Used these for close to 15 years October 7, 2008 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
I have used the spyder inversion boots for about 15 years, on and off. As I am not exactly a feather-weight (weight fluctuates between 210-240) this is a pretty good test. I am buying another pair as the strap on one broke (not in use - I suspect my son was messing with it) I even tried hanging with one broken strap (Do Not Try This At Home!) and they held up fine, but it made me a little nervous and my wife said it was OK to replace them. I don't do a lot of inverted sit-ups but just hanging or traction and hanging/twisting feels great on my back. As far as retinal damage - hasn't happened to me yet. If you have blood pressure issues - definitely talk to your doctor and therapist. Your mileage may vary. Don't hurt yourself and if you do, it's your fault.
Excellent October 4, 2008 I will admit, when I bought this product, I wasn't 100% taken by it. I've been using it for a month now and I feel great! I feel loosened up and stress-relieved, joints that used to pop with every movement don't anymore, flexibility has definitely increased, and using the inversion is really quite comfortable. I recommend this product to anyone and everyone.
Definitely helps with the bulging disc September 11, 2008 Work as advertised, and seem sturdy, with thick, firm cushioning...for those looking to stretch your spine to alleviate back pain associated w/bulging discs, I can say they definitely help.
However, the removable calf loops seem like just a gimmick...they don't create any bend in the knees...they don't do anything, other than get in the way when putting the boots on and taking them off.
Also, even with the thick cushioning, there is most definitely some strain placed on the ankles...took me a week or two to get used to that, but if you have weak ankles, or a low tolerance for discomfort, you'll probably want to just go for the inversion table.
great for your back September 3, 2008 this thing has done wonders for my back it is money well spent
These things work! September 2, 2008 I bought these about a year ago when I threw my back and was in bed for almost a week.
I found information about Vax-D Therapy where they put you on a modern day rack system to stretch your back. I was getting ready to schedule an appointment when I found other people saying to save your money and buy an inversion table.
The Vax-D was prohibitively expensive so I started looking into Inversion Tables. I was trying to figure out where to put an inversion table when I remembered the old "Gravity Boots" from the 1980's.
Space was an issue so I decided to try these boots instead of the table.
I ordered them shipped Next-Day because I was desperate.
I used them 3 times a day and the next day I already felt better. I felt so much better that I thought the boss would think that I made up the bad back story to miss some days at work.
In about 3 days I was almost back to normal.
Working a desk job, I really should use them every day and I only remember to use them when my back starts hurting again.
I don't use the "Removable calf loops" anymore, but they were great when my back was out, since I actually held on to them to pull myself back up.
This is not for the Faint-Hearted so people who whine about them not being safe should just buy an inversion bed. This would be much gentler for them and much easier to use too.
Don't let the plastic construction fool you. These things are very sturdy, very comfortable and very safe. -- I've never felt that they would give out, break or come loose on me.
I highly recommend buying the Inversion Rack -> Teeter Hang Ups EZ Up Inversion Rack
I kicked myself for getting it -- You don't want to go through the trouble of finding an alternative way to hang from when this you could've bought that rack in the first place.
I took the time to write this review because I'd like other back pain sufferers to know about this option that they can do at home at their own time.
Again, if you're not scared and you still have the stamina to pull yourself back up when you're done, these are Highly Recommended.
If you're scared, get an inversion table and save yourself the doctor or chiropractor bills.
