4 out of 5 stars Just the ticket!   August 27, 2008
I have been researching GPS rangefinders for two years after giving up on line-of-sight laser models (ever tried to focus on a 18" flag from 175 yards?).

I was impressed by the number and variety of GPS devices on the market and amazed at the array of features. But I could never bring myself to pull the trigger. Just too expensive for what I (and most people) need. Give me an accurate distance to the center of the green (and perhaps the distance to clear the creek on #6) and I'm a happy camper, and if you can help me figure out the max on my 6-iron, well that's all the better. After watching every sale on amazon and ebay for a looong time, I finally decided that I would just sit this one out and continue to waste time pacing distances from the oddly situated yardage markers on my home course. Then iGolf introduced the Neo in April. Great price point (cheaper than last year's hybrid). I watched the early returns (reviews) and then pounced.

I'm delighted. Everything I needed for less than half the cost of the market leader. Setup was a snap, and charting my home course (front, center, back of the greens, as well as a few key custom waypoints) took less than 1.5 hours. I even mapped the flags on the driving range! (Of course, you can download courses for the price of membership at iGolf.com, but as previously noted, I'm cheap.)

Another nice touch is the shot distance feature. Simply click "OK/SHOT" from the starting point and again when you've arrived at your ball and you can begin to chart your club distances under actual playing conditions. And that's really the point. The GPS by itself may or may not cut strokes. It's what you do with the information you now have in the palm of your hand that's important. In two rounds using the Neo, I only "mis-clubbed" once. I may have "mis-hit" a few times, but I did have a new confidence in my club selection. As a consequence, I was able to swing comfortably without having to "jump all over" a shot because I thought the distance was a reach. I fully expect this little device to help me improve the way I think about the game. I know that I will no longer be distracted by the search for a yardage marker.

5 out of 5 stars iGolf neo   August 17, 2008
L O V E I T!!!!! Received my neo on Wednesday and had a slight glitch
with my computer while trying to download a course. I e-mailed iGolf and
they responded by asking me to phone them when I was at my computer and in less than 10 minutes I was set to go.
I used the neo today for the first time and the distances were right on the money. It does not have all the bells and whistles as other models
which cost a lot more but for $150 it gives you the distances to front, center, and back as well as last shot distance and thats all you really need anyway. I am very pleased with this product and recommend it to all.

1 out of 5 stars Really poor software   August 14, 2008
I'm delighted others have found this product useful. Unfortunately, after hours of following the company's directions on how to sync a course to the device with nothing to show for it but total frustration, I couldn't give a more negative review. Technical support only responds by automatically sending portions of the manual you already have. I don't know for sure, but I expect it would be better to spend more money and get a product that works. I went for the product because it was the least expensive. I guess you get what you pay for.

5 out of 5 stars Get one now!!!!   August 12, 2008
Recently purchased the Neo, and I have to tell you it is really a handy device. As I am not the best golfer in the world, I sometimes find myself off the fairway away from any yardage marker. The Neo gives very accurate distances to the green and other hazards so you can select the proper club quite quickly. Very simple and straight forward user interface...great little device worth every penny!

5 out of 5 stars i-Golf   August 8, 2008
My i-Golf gps works just as good as my friends expensive Sky Caddie. I am very pleased with my purchase.
