I had a Chi for several years. Then my dog chewed up the nieces Chi one day while visiting. I had to give her mine as replacement. Not knowing the difference I went and bought one from Walmart ( an inferior brand.) I couldnt figure out why it didnt smooth my hair, nor did it straighten it very well. After reading the reviews, I ordered one myself. Now I remember the difference. Also,my hair dresser told me that the Chi uses some magnetic method as opposed to just burning heat to straighten. I must add that there is somewhat of a technigue to master to get the full affect. Its great. Only had mine for a month so not sure about all the talk about not holding up. Very happy. .....

I have coarse, curly, color treated (bleached to be exact) hair. My hair has made a mockery of every other iron I've tried to use. Either the iron didn't straighten it well or pulled my hair or burned my hair. The CHI has done none of that. I only have to pass over my rat's nest of curls one time and they're straight. My hair doesn't get caught around the plates like it has on other irons. My hair doesn't look burnt or crispy, it's always very shiny and has a lot of movement. This iron is totally worth the money. I wish I could un-buy the small army of irons that I've tried before this one. This is the last brand of iron I will ever consider.

I have owned my chi for 7 years now and it still works great. I have to admit it does not do my hair as well as it used to but just recently. I believe it is not getting as hot has it used to. I am not complaining though because it was every bit worth the money. 7 YEARS! It's an awesome product.

This was an amazing straightener. On Amazon you can snag this for a great deal, too. I have very thick hair and every other straightener I have tried it takes me literal an hour or more to get it perectly straight. Tnis straihtener takes me 5 minutes, I am SO pleased with the order. This was definitley the best choice I have ever made when buying an item off of Amazon.
