im a noob April 9, 2008 This is my first diabolo and i kind of like it. it seems to lose its spin fairly quickly but that may just be because i havent mastered getting it to spin as fast as i could yet. its fairly heavy but overall i would recommend it, especially for the price
Perfectly priced entry-level diabolo February 12, 2008 I got my diabolo a few days ago and I got to say, I love it. I was able to pick it up some basic tricks almost immediately. Good thing it's plastic because I drop mine a lot, lol.
A Fantastic Diabolo choice February 9, 2008 I must say, this diabolo really is fantastic, especially for a beginner. the beach diabolo is really great for balance, espceially if you are trying to practice new tricks. Of course, since the diabolo is made of plastic, it will scratch and chip if it hits a hard surface. However, it is much easier to clean off, so you have a clear view when performing the high toss. Also, the diabolo does have a short axis, so it is easier to tip and turn. I also like that the axis is still wide enough to do a decent grind. If you want immediate speed without much armwork, well there are bearing diabolos... But, this diabolo will help you to gain some of the needed arm strength and endurance while easing you into dealing with weight. There is an additional bonus that some may care about, others may not. I like being a bit creative with my diabolos, and these plastic diabolos take paint well. So, while the diabolo is plain, you can easily embellish both the diabolo and the sticks! If you are considering this product, I strongly suggest that you buy it!
Diabolo January 19, 2008 The customer service for this item was above and beyond. They were out of the color I ordered and instead of just shipping me anything they actually called me, long distance, and asked me what color I would like as a replacement. Outstanding!
The items arrived within 72 hours, ground, intact and my children are loving them now. They're durable...so far :) I would recommend them highly.
A good beginner diabolo January 1, 2008 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
This is a good choice for a first diabolo, because it's good quality for price and a shape and weight that is easy to learn.
The beach diabolo has a good wieght and gives enough torque to do tricks with. A lighter diabolo will not have as much torque, and so will be harder to manipulate and learn new tricks on. I have been learning diabolo for 4 months now, and still have trouble with small diabolos. It seems counter intuitive, but larger diabolos tend to be easier to control.
This is also a good shape to learn on. A diabolo with a wider axel (which I don't see sold on Amazon, but that's what I learned on), is harder to balance on the string and so can be frustrating to learn on. This one has a short axel and so won't tip one way and fall off the string as much. So far I haven't found any tricks that I can't do on a short axel, but catching and spinning the diabolo on the sticks is easier on a longer axel.
This diabolo is made of plastic, and scratches horribly. It will come shiny and pretty, but it's not going to stay that way. It gets ugly fast, but it hasn't broken and it's definitely been dropped and flung about violently.
One warning I have is that the color choice they call purple is really pink, and a flamboyant Barbieish pink at that. I'm a woman, so while I was shocked, I can get away with it, but this could be a bad deal especially if you got the diabolo as a gift for a child who might have strong color likes and dislikes.
The diabolo also comes with pretty good quality sticks. They have rubber handles which I like for weight and spotting with suicides. It comes with a short list of tricks to do and discriptions on how to do them.
