Amazon.com When Elvis-like rock & roll star Conrad Birdie is drafted into the military, the teen nation is united by a contest in which the winner bestows a farewell kiss upon their idol while on the Ed Sullivan Show. Ann-Margret (in her film debut) is the lucky little lady from Sweet Apple, Ohio, who wins the contest, much to the chagrin of her steady beau (Bobby Rydell) and miserable parents (Paul Lynde and Mary LaRoche). Dick Van Dyke and Janet Leigh are an older couple kept from marrying by his meddlesome mother, played to the hilt by Maureen Stapleton. Lightweight but fun, this features an exuberant soundtrack with such memorable ditties as "Put on a Happy Face" and "Kids" and the title track. This is a much better choice than the lackluster, 1995 made-for-TV version. --Rochelle O'Gorman

Kim McAfee (Ann-Margret) turns outto be the lucky teenager and Conrad's whole entourage moves into her quiet Midwestern home much tothe chagrin of her ever irritable father (Paul Lynde) and her jealous boyfriend (Bobby Rydell). A Great Classic... October 12, 2008 My mother introduced me to this movie when I was thirteen and I have been a fan of classic movies eversince and today I am twenty three. This movie is fun and the music is great, also is very funny. I love the fashions on the women and the story is well put together...I definitely recommend this film.

Promptness and Only Found on Amazon.com October 2, 2008
I was looking for a Bye Bye Birdie DVD. I checked every store around and no one had the DVD. Many stores told me it was out of print.
I contacted Amazon and the DVD came up immediately and I received it prior to the scheduled date by Amazon. Thank you
It was ordered for a birthday and made it in time for the big day. Thanks again. Barbara
Timeless June 23, 2008 For those who don't believe in musicals (that would include me!) this movie is just good fun. Great for all ages. Great movie to watch with the entire family.
Whats with the cover on this DVD? October 4, 2007 Why do they make a DVD with cover art that does not even appear in the film? Also Ann Margrets final shot in the end is cut off! This was a great musical of the 60's with great performances and songs and the current packaging makes it look like a B film! cOLUMBIA PICTURES, get it together!
