Golden B(ee)s October 9, 2008 This collection of classics, Vol. 1 and 2 should be part of every sci-fi lover's film shelf. I haven't seen some of these films for years, and welcome them home like long-lost relatives: "The Leech Woman" with Collen Gray, "Cult of the Cobra" with Richard Long and Marshall Thompson, and "Deadly Mantis" with William Hopper. For sci-fi fans, this collection is a winner!
The cult lives on... October 9, 2008 To put it short; this box is one of the best DVD collections of classic old B/W horror movies I have come across. Nice packaging, great quality and of course timeless movies. This is a must.
Popcorn time September 16, 2008 1 out of 2 found this review helpful
As a "BOOMER" I grew up watching some of these flicks on Saturday matinees. This compilation of 50's Sci-Fi flicks is perfect for couch-potato stuff when the weather gets bad. Pop some corn, pour a big glass of soda and chill out. The simple pleasures are the best. My favorites of this collection are "The Mole People","Incredible Shrinking Man","Monster on Campus", "Deadly Mantis", & "Tarantula" Others are good but "creature features" are my favorite
Love these old "Scary Movies" September 7, 2008 2 out of 2 found this review helpful
There is a market for these old movies. I personally love them and spent many a Saturday glued to the screen watching them. Some, like "Monolith Monsters" are almost impossible to find in any format. The transfers and sound are crisp and clean, great job. Only demerit comes from the lack of "Extras," but I am not downgrading the set on that basis as these were released in an era when takes and alternate scenes were not saved. Few of the principals are likely alive to interview. That minor caveat aside there is a lot to savor and enjoy- my six year old loves to watch them with me as they are not too scary. Now, about VOLUME #3, when will it come out? Plenty of material, plenty of interest, how about it guys?
