An iconic variety show that ran from 1976 to 1981, The Muppet Show was a masterpiece of puppetry and slapstick humor as well as a showcase for the best musical and comic talent of its day. Season three ran 1978-1979 and featured 26 famous guest stars, including Roy Clark, Pearl Bailey, Jean Stapleton, Harry Belefonte, Danny Kaye, Cheryl Ladd, Raquel Welch, Roy Rogers, Dale Evans, and Sylvester Stallone. Some of the most unique episodes of the season were the Lynn Redgrave show, in which she and all the Muppets used the entire show to re-enact the story of Robin Hood; the Loretta Lynn episode, which was ostensibly filmed at the railroad station when the theater was being fumigated; and the visual effects-laden Alice Cooper episode. Other notable moments include Liberace's performances of everything from a Chopin Nocturne to a Boogie Woogie piece, Gilda Radner's amusing musical rendition from Gilbert and Sullivan's operetta "Carrots of Penzance" (or was that "Parrots of Penzance," or "Pirates of Penzance?"), and Danny Kaye's appearance as the Swedish Chef's uncle. I love teh muppets July 1, 2008
This is a great addition to the collection. I love the Muppet Shows and have been showing them to my kids. This is great family entertainment still.
Trumpets for muppets June 30, 2008
Like Muppet show 1 and 2 the 3rd season keeps up. It is very entertaining and can be enjoyed by people of all ages.
Brings back so many memories AND stands the test of time June 30, 2008
Wow! What can I say. The Muppet Show was my first favorite television program and will forever be associated with great memories of hanging out with my parents, just laughing and having a good time. My immediate memories of the show were hazy from time, but I was really surprised at how much of this stuff I remembered and the overwhelming sense of familiarity I have with the show. It's like seeing an old friend after years apart and not missing a beat -- there's no need to catch up because everything that was once there still is!
So funny, so creative, so groundbreaking, so great.
I highly recommend checking out these DVD sets. If you are unfamiliar with the series, you will certainly be pleased. And if it's been awhile since you last checked in with the Muppets, your old friends are just as great as you remember.

 Muppets - It's all good June 26, 2008
The quality is good. Each season has fewer and fewer special features. Not much behind the scenes info in this set, especially in comparison to the first season. But it's Jim Henson's Muppets - it's all good.
Another Good Season June 24, 2008
Season Three of the Muppet Show brought the same great reproduction of the original shows. One thing I missed from Season Two and Three that was part of Season One was the ability to turn on pop up trivia about the characters, the guest stars, or micellaneous facts about things that we happening on stage. Season Three includes a pre-PBS special on the creation of puppets and Muppets and gives everyone great insight into what goes into making a Muppet and how they are worked.
