5 out of 5 stars Silly Price   June 18, 2008
1 out of 1 found this review helpful

Im gave this 5 stars because im sure the product as a whole is fine. however i have to say that it would be foolish to purchase this as a whole set. if you add up all nine seasons prices it comes to about $195. even if you are in a state that is now forcing Amazon to charge tax it would still only come up to about $212. some people dont check this stuff out. so if you see this, remember, this is NOT the only series set they charge more for.

5 out of 5 stars Great Show, Great Deal   June 16, 2008
We took advantage of the Roseanne "Deal of the Day" where we paid $99 for all 9 seasons. And it was WELL worth it! This is a great show, and I'd recommend it to anyone. Why buy the seasons one at a time for $30 each?

5 out of 5 stars it's my country too and I'll sing whatever I want   May 18, 2008

EVERYTHING YOU EVER WANTED TO KNOW ABOUT ROSEANNE, BUT WERE AFRAID TO ASK...!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

* The Connors' address is 704 Delaware Street, Landford, Illinois. The zip was never established. However, when Kathy Bowman (Meagen Fay,) not-so affectionately called "needle-b-u-t-t" by Roseanne once said to her, "I'm in hell," Rosey just laughed and said, "no you're not, you're in Landford, same zip-code, though."

* The original role of D.J. Connor was played by Sal Barone in the first ep, "Life And Stuff." He has since claimed that he was let go because producers thought he was too young (but this may not be true because Michael Fishman looked younger than he did.)

* Besides being known affectionately as "Rosey" by her hubby and some friends, Roseanne Connor was also called "Rose" by her parents.

* There was a continuity error in Season 9 when it was revealed that Roseanne quit Wellman Plastics because of an argument with a member of the Wellman Family. Roseanne walked out of her job at Wellman during the Season 1 Finale, "Let's Call It Quits" because of a sexist boss (who was not part of the Wellman Family.) In Season 2, she was involved in a car accident with snobbish Meg Wellman, though.

* "Life And Stuff" was the original working-title of the series and the first ep, which is sometimes called the "pilot" but technically that is incorrect. There's a difference between a first ep and a pilot and not all sitcoms air their actual pilots, if they do even have one.

* Despite living on Delaware Street, a Season 1 ep was once titled "Nightmare on Oak Street."

* Darlene's sentimental poem from "Brain-Dead Poets Society" (Season 2) was actually written by Joss Whedon, a writer for the series.

* "Roseanne" was produced by Carsey-Werner, in association with Roseanne's company Full Moon Productions.

* "Roseanne" premiered on October 18, 1988 and the last ep aired on May 20, 1997.

* In 1991, during the height of the shows unprecedented, worldwide success, Roseanne admitted to People Magazine that she was an "incest survivor." More than 10 years later, (much like La Toya Jackson,) Roseanne now claims that she was the victim of an unscrupulous spouse who planted stories in the media and "put words" in her mouth.

* "Roseanne" is sometimes called "The Roseanne Show."

* When Beverly was busted for drunk driving, Jackie spitefully called her "Non-alcoholic Bev" once Beverly deiced that no one else should be allowed to drink, either.

* Some classic sitcom mothers that have appeared on "Roseanne" include: Florence Henderson, June Lockhart, Isabel Sanford (may she rest in peace,) Shirley Jones & Vicki Lawrence.

* In addition to being the creator of the show and staring and being the Executive Producer on the series, Roseanne also worked as a writer and directed a couple of eps, too.

* The characters of Becky, Darlene and D.J. are based on Roseanne's real children: Jennifer, Jessica and Jacob.

* Dan was generally always referred to as Dan, however Audrey did call him "Daniel" and Meg once called him "Don."

* The Season 2 Season Premiere "Inherit the Wind" was the first time a network sitcom ever tackled the scandalous topic of farting. However, the network honchos wouldn't allow Roseanne to use the word, so she came up with "boombie." Rosey to Becky: life is full of boombies, get used to it!

* D.J. is short for David Jacob. He was called that at least once, as well as "Cubby" at least once, as well.

* "90210" Star Shannen Doherty was sarcastically mentioned in Season 5 when Darlene said to Molly (Danielle Harris:) Oh please, you're probably just a vegetarian because you read somewhere that Shannen Doherty might be one.

* Ferris Bueller's nutty school secretary, Edie McClurg guest stared in Season 4, as a kooky bingo-addict.

* Like comedy-legend Lucy, Roseanne pioneered many methods in the sitcom world that we now take for granted. Most notably, "Roseanne" was the first series to feature wrap-around credits which allowed the dialogue to continue as the show was rolling credits. "Roseanne" also introduced the "dramedy" concept to the sitcom genre which is now all too familiar.

* In Italy the title of "Roseanne" is "Pappa e Ciccia" which loosely means "Food & Flab."

* While filming "She-Devil" a magazine editor got a hold of pictures from the movie and came up with the harebrained idea that Roseanne was a "devil worshiper." Roseanne did nothing to dissuade this foolish story and even made light of the rumor on her series, several times.

* Besides playing Roseanne's loveable blue-color husband Dan, John Goodman is also known for playing sneaky Linda Tripp in a series of deadpan SNL clips.

* In the "Labor Day" ep Beverly and Roseanne claimed that Jackie's real name was "Marjorie." Jackie became furious though because she never knew that was her name saying, "it's my name, if you ask anyone it would be a big deal." On second thought, Bev thinks that her real name may have been "Mary Jane."

* Many sources have reported that "Roseanne" was the first long-running sitcom since "I Love Lucy" that showcased a female actress in the lead. That is incorrect. Here are some other shows prior to "Roseanne:" "Maude," "The Lucy Show," "Here's Lucy," "The Golden Girls," "Mama's Family," "Designing Women," "Laverne & Shirley," "Julia," "One Day at a Time," "Alice," "Kate & Alley," "Valerie," "The Mary Tyler Moore Show," "Rhoda," "Good Times," & "Gloria." (However, none of those shows have ever been as ground-breaking or as confrontational or controversial or serious as "Roseanne.")

* Roseanne told Larry King in '06 that she changed her last-name back to Barr when she "regained her sanity." She also stated that she has reconciled with her estranged family after making some very bitter and vengeful remarks about them, over the years.

* In an early Season 2 ep, when Roseanne Connor was still selling mags over the phone she clearly flubs her lines and says: This is Magazine from the Roseanne discount house.

* Roseanne was married a total of 4 times to: Bill Pentland, Tom Arnold and Ben Thomas (twice.)

* Michael O'Keefe was nominated for an Academy Award for the his role in the film "The Great Santini."

* "Do You Know Where Your Parents Are?" from Season 3 rarely shows up in syndication.

* Some of the rarely ever before discussed topics that "Roseanne" constantly tackled in her series include: poverty, death, @bortion, teen pregnancy, birth control, m@sturbation, PMS, mental illness, religion, divorce, drug abuse, domestic violence, child abuse, alcoholism and weight loss.

* Roseanne played a similar role in "She-Devil." Ruth Patchett was much like Roseanne Connor.

* While staring on "Roseanne" Roseanne also had a short-lived Saturday morning ABC cartoon, "Little Rosie" and a variety show, "Saturday Night Special" that ran on Fox.

* In 1990 after causing a huge controversy with her National Anthem performance, George Bush referred to Roseanne as "disgraceful." Roseanne replied: it's my country too and I'll sing whatever I want.

* In 1989 after a vicious fight with her director and producers, ABC threatened to slap Roseanne with a breach of contract suit for refusing to read her lines exactly as they appeared in the script. Roseanne never backed down and the lines were finally changed to suit her needs.

* After the show went #1, Roseanne posted a list of all the executives that she wanted to fire; at the top of the list was Matt Williams.

* In 1992 the National Enquirer reported that "Roseanne" was going to reveal that D.J. was g-a-y. Either Roseanne changed her mind or the story was false because it never happened.

* Michael O'Keefe who played Jackie's hubby, Fred was married to songstress Bonnie Raitt, they divorced 9 years ago.

* Michael Fishman's birth name is: Michael Desmond Quatill, and according to published reports he was born in Cuba and came to CA with his mother at the age of 4.

* In Aug. 1990, during her Blond Ambition Tour, that aired on HBO, Madonna said to one of her backup singers nastily, "You better be careful or I'm going to sic 'Roseanna Barr' on you." Roseanne returned the favor when she said that Madonna was "a big w-h-o-r-e" during a coast-to-coat TV interview.

* The popular character actor Ned Beatty, played Dan's father, and Crystal's hubby (by Season 3,) Ed Connor.

* Dabbs Greer, most famous for the role of Reverend Alden on Michael Landon's "Little House on the Prairie" played the role of Joe in a Season 2 ep of "Roseanne," "Lobocop."

* Both Estelle Parsons and Shelley Winters (may she rest in peace) have each won Oscars (Shelley Winters actually won 2!)

* Both "Married With Children" and "Roseanne" are loosely modeled after another Carsey-Werner Classic, "The Cosby Show."

* Both Sarah Gilbert & her real-life (adopted) sister, Melissa Gilbert both stared on popular Network Series Programs with costars (that played a sister to each!) who had the same name as them: Sarah Chalke & Melissa Sue Anderson.

* Many agree that Season 5 was "Roseanne's" grittiest Season because it depicted the most real eps and the most through-out programs in the entire history of this long-running sitcom.

* Martin Mull (who played Leon Carp, don't you just love that name?) also appeared in another groundbreaking comedy series staring an iconic comedienne; Bea Arthur's 70's hit "Maude."

* Patrika Darbo who played Roseanne in a TV movie, also had a small part in a Season 3 ep when she played the object of Dan's fantasy.

* On the show, Roseanne Connor was pregnant for more than a year, this was because Roseanne couldn't decide if she wanted to go ahead with the storyline of having a new baby.

* Ned Beatty has appeared in many movies, including the coming-of-age picture "Rudy." And, he was nominated for an Oscar for his role in the film "Network."

* Roseanne's baby on the show was supposed to be a girl and they even referred to her name as "Jill" at least once on the show prior to the birth, however Roseanne decided at the last minute to make the child a boy to pattern her own life.

* The late John Randolph who played Roseanne Connor's father (Al Harris) quit the series after the Second Season; that's why he was never seen again after that and why a divorce then a death was worked into the storyline.

* Furious with 2 tele-TV movies about her controversial life (one airing on Fox and another on NBC,) Roseanne went on Jay Leno with a clip of Michael Fishman (dressed up as a "young Roseanne,") sarcastically claiming that it was a scene from one of the movies.

* Sally Kirland, who played David & Mark's trampy mother, Mrs. Healy is an Academy Award Nominated actress.

* During the run of "Roseanne" there were many notable guest-stars, such as: Bruce Willis (Season 1,) Mr. Bob Hope (Season 4,) Joan Collins (Season 5,) Loretta Lynn (Season 5,) Tim Curry (Season 5,) Wings Hauser (Season 5,) Morgan Fairchild (Season 5,) Red Buttons (Season 5,) Ed Begley Jr. (Season 5,) Sharon Stone (Season 7,) Ed McMahon (Season 8,) Steven Seagal (Season 9,) Jim Varney (Season 9,) James Brolin (Season 9,) Jerry Springer (Season 9,) JM J. Bullock (Season 9,) Marlo Thomas (Season 9,) Ruta Lee (Season 9,) Anthony Robbins (Season 9) & Mo Gaffney (Season 9.)

* Alicia Goranson (aka "Lecy") claimed in an interview that she did for TV Land in '07 that all of the producers were upset when she cut her hair and Roseanne loved it.

* Tragically, Glenn Quinn (Mark Healy) died penniless, from a drug overdoes in 2002; his family couldn't even afford a burial for him.

* Roseanne's fist-husband Bill Pentland was also a writer on the series.

* Veteran character actor Phil Leeds plays Leon's lover Jeffrey in "Tooth or Consequences" from Season 5.

* Lori Tan Chinn played a recurring role in Season 2 as the tough-talking hairdresser, Iris, who was in total contrast to the meek "Vesta Rose Lady" that she played in Roseanne's '89 film, "She-Devil."

* Four cast members from "Roseanne" have appeared in Madonna movies: Laurie Metcalf ("Desperately Seeking Susan,) Estelle Parsons ("Dlck Tracy,") Sandra Bernhard ("Truth Or Dare") & Roseanne ("Blue in the Face.)

* Contrary to popular belief, in the Season 3 ep "Scenes from a Barbecue" Bonnie Watkins (played by folk-singer Bonnie Bramlett, credited as "Bonnie Sheridan") does not actually sing; she only lip-synchs.

* Roseanne again made worldwide headlines when she admitted in 1994 that her family was so poor that she had to make endsmeat prostituting. And, this was the first time in Roseanne's career that the women who rallied behind her in the past did not support this ludicrous "revelation."

* Soon after admitting that she was a former hooker, Roseanne then claimed that she was the victim of Dissociative Identity Disorder, claiming that as a result of all of the "abuse" that she was forced to endure she had "hundreds of multiple identities" living within her body. Again, her core-fan base felt betrayed by this woman that they did not know and again they did not support Roseanne when she went on coast-to-coast TV trying to garner sympathy.

* In real-life, Laurie Metcalf is married to the actor who played Jackie's abuser Fisher, Matt Roth.

* Matt Roth also played another obsessive/abusive man in another cult-classic, "Melrose Place." In Season One, he played Paul Brubecker a man obsessed with blonde-bombshell, Sandy.

* After speaking of her failing marriage on Arsenio, Roseanne fired Sandra Bernhard.

* After Roseanne married her second husband, she had every single show up until that point edit the credits to reflect her new credited name: Roseanne Arnold.

* Matt Williams was not the creator of the show, but, because of legalities Roseane was forced to include his name on every single ep, even after she fired him.

* Throughout the run of the show, Roseanne went by 5 different names: Roseanne Pentland (not used professionally,) Roseanne Barr, Roseanne Arnold, Roseanne (no last-name) & Roseanne Thomas (although this was not used professionally, either.)

* The kiss shared between Roseanne and Mariel Hemingway portrayed the first ever same-s-e-x kiss on coast-to-coast primetime TV.

* Suzanne Somers alleges that because of her, actresses like Roseanne were paid more because she "paved the way."

* Rebecca "Becky" Conner Healy timeline: Alicia Goranson played Becky from Season 1 through Season 4, in Season 5 she was in the first 2 eps, then she was seen once or twice more in Season 5 (as a guest, because Roseanne decided to re-shoot the opening credits without Lecy a second time for Season 5.) Sarah Chalke started playing Becky from Seasons 6 to Season 7. Alicia came back to the Series in Season 8, however it was a very limited schedule (b/c she was very unhappy with the series, with the producers, with the writing and just generally didn't want to be there,) so there's a few eps from Season 8 that Sarah Chalke played the role of Becky, as well. And, when the Series was picked up for a 9th Season at the last minute Lecy backed out (for all of the reasons I stated above,) and Sarah Chalked gladly took the part.

* Roseanne's three former husbands have all appeared on "Roseanne" at least once, each.

* Both Delta Burke and Roseanne have stated that they felt a kinship with each other because they each "grew up on TV" and both suffered from mental illness.

* It was never fully established why Roseanne disliked her job at the beauty salon because out of all of her jobs this one seemed the most bearable.

* At the time of the shows cancellation, Roseanne was then the highest paid woman in the entire history of broadcast TV.

* During a Season 7 ep, Becky said to Darlene, "eat me." This was the first time such a phrase was uttered on broadcast network TV and had to be set up to make it past the censors. Darlene: it's not that I hate you, I hate all vegetables. Becky: well you're a vegetarian, so eat me!

* Shelley Winters who played Nana Mary, was only 7 years older than Estelle Parsons, who played her daughter, Bev.

* There was a different waitress that worked with Roseanne during her first day at Rodbell's in "Like, a New Job." Katsy Chappell played Kelly, another large-framed woman; when Rosey saw her she said: we look like we were separated at birth.

* Roseanne caused another stir with critics and sensors alike on the first ep with Traci Lords when she said to Jackie: look even I'm getting a "woody."

* When Jackie (Laurie Metcalf) married Fred (Michael O'Keefe) her married last-name was never revealed, although Roseanne once joked that it was "O" as in "Jackie O."

* "Roseanne" never had an actual spin-off, although it did have a cross-over show, "The Jackie Thomas Show" staring Roseanne's second husband and sometimes show-performer/writer, Tom Arnold.

* The breakup between Roseanne and Tom Arnold was so acrimonious that Roseanne forbad anyone from the show from ever mentioning his name again in her presence.

* Three different child actors played the role of Lonie Anderson (Crystal's son, from a former marrige,) Josh C. Williams, Luke Edwards & Kristopher Kent Hill.

* At the MTV 1994 Awards the cast of "Roseanne" appeared in a pre-taped clip wishing show-host Roseanne good luck.

* During the run of the show, Roseanne wrote 2 autobiographies: My Life As a Woman and My Lives.

* Roseanne wanted to depict her series as a Jewish Family, however network executives at ABC would not allow it; this is one of the rare times when Roseanne did not get her way and perhaps one of her biggest regrets as far as this series is concerned.

* The baby actor who played Rosey & Dan's baby son Jerry Garcia Connor is named Cole Roberts. And, only 1 child played this role, which rarely happens in series TV.

* During an interview with 0prah during the Winter of '94 Roseanne falsely claimed that the title to her second autobiography in Australia is "Kiss My A-S-S." No one got the joke and many fans tried to get the book.

* Michael O'Keefe went though a big physical transformation between Seasons 6 & 7. When the Series returned, Fred no longer had any facial hair, he lost weight and looked more muscular and he had a new Jake Hanson type haircut. Roseanne decided to make light of this when it was alleged that Fred was g-a-y in the Season 7 Halloween ep. (These days he would have been called a metrosexual.)

* In the Season 8 Series Premiere Sarah Chalke and Lecy put on a "Patty Duke" satire to introduce Lecy as the "old-new Becky." Also, in Season 8, Sarah Chalke played a neighbor bringing her kids by on the Halloween ep. Rosey said to her, "I wish I had a daughter just like you." Sarah replied, "you are nice, nice, nice."

* Luke Edwards (who played one of the Lonnies) portrayed the title role in the kitschy kids movie "The Wizard."

* "It's a Boy!" from Season 5 is the ep where Rosey first allowed David to move in after having a big fight with his mom. You may remember, Mrs. Healy said to Rosey, "just look at those 2 little w-h-o-r-e-s you raised." Roseanne quickly repied without blinking, "Oh, I'm in this now. If your kid weren't here, I'd take the time to remind you that those who life in glass W-H-O-R-E houses shouldn't throw stones. It's people like you that give whitetrash a bad name."

* Also in "It's a Boy!" Roseanne tried to convince Dan to allow David to move in saying, "I grew up in a house like that, it's really, really, really bad. I don't mean screwed up like you and I are screwed up."

* The National Enquirer published photos of Roseanne Connor which clearly show black and blue bruises on her arm, during the Season 6 ep, ironically titled: "Isn't It Romantic?." This can clearly be seen in the show, as well.

* During the Season 6 Finale, "Altar Egos" Roseanne had to wear a brunette wig to hide her bleach-blonde hair.

* The part of Cyrstal Connor (formerly Anderson) (played by Natalie West) was supposedly based in part on Roseanne's real sister, Geraldine Barr; around the time when Roseanne stopped speaking to her sister she also wrote Crystal out of the Series.

* According to IMDB, Jackie & Fred's son's last name is "Harris" (Jackie's maiden name) however this was never established in the series.

* Sara Gilbert is actually older than Sarah Chalke.

* John Goodman appeared in many popular motion pictures, including "Raising Airzona" and "Stella."

* Lee Garlington played 2 different roles on "Roeanne." In "Death and Stuff" (Season 1) she played a potential washing machine buyer/massage therapist, Carol. And, in "Santa Claus" (Season 4) she was Darlene's older new friend, Karen Miller.

* Besides acting on the show, Martin Mull was hired as "executive consultant" for the series.

* In his first "Roseanne" ep (Season 4,) "The Bowling Show," Johnny Galecki was named "Kevin" not David!

* In an interview with a TV magazine in the mid-90's, Alicia Goranson intimated that she left the series for other reasons that had nothing to do with getting a college education.

* In real-life, both Sarah Gilbert and Johnny Galecki are both h-o-m-o-sexual.

* "Roseaenne" produced a total of 222 eps.

* By Season 4, "Roseanne" gained a reputation for being a very Halloween-friendly sitcom. As the series progressed, her "Halloween" eps got more and over-the-top; finally culminating in Season 9 when Darlene gave birth to the devil's baby!

* The child actors who played the role of Andy, Jackie & Fred's son were twin brothers, Garrett & Kent Hazen. (The baby in the Season 6 "Labor Day" ep was never credited.)

* The correct pronunciation of Sarah Chalke's last-name is: chalk-ey (the "E" is not silent.)

* Ironically, on the night of the Season 7 finale, "Sherwood Schwartz: A Loving Tribute," NBC also aired a "Brady Bunch" retrospective with Sherwood Schwartz as well, "The Brady Home-Movies." In Rosey's version, it was a homage to "Gilligan's Island" which included all of the surviving cast members in a final scene. Of course, Ginger played Roseanne!

* Two different actresses portrayed Dan's kooky mother Audrey; first "Three's Company's" Ann Wedgeworth and in the Final Season, Ms. Debbie Reynolds.

* Even though the show is based on Roseanne's real life, Landford was a fictitious town. Roseanne actually grew up in a suburb of Salt Lake City, UT.

* Prior to the Series Finale, Roseanne claimed in an interview with "Entertainment Tonight" that she "might come back for a 10th Season to whichever network paid her the most." Season 9 would prove to be her last.

* "The Labor Day" ep from Season 6, when Jackie went into labor, was one of the highest rated shows in the entire history of "Roseanne."

* In "Halloween: the Final Chapter" from Season 8, Rosey went into labor and during the end credits a photo was shown of Roseanne and her third husband with her baby son, Buck Thomas.

* Michael Des Barres played Leon's lover Steven, in a Season 4 ep, he is perhaps most famous for his portrayal as Amanda Woodward's malicious boss, on everyone's favorite West Hollywood Soap!

* On the recent TV Land Awards, the cast of Roseanne was honored and at least twice it was mentioned that "Roseanne" was on the air for 10 years. That is false. Roseanne was on for 9 years/seasons.

* Rosie O'Donnell recently said on her blog that "Roseanne" along with "All In The Family" are two of her favorite TV shows.

* In 1998 Roseanne held a mock-reunion with some of the cast members from the series on her then-talk show, aptly titled "The Roseanne Show."

* Some ABC affiliates refused to air the ep of the (in)famous g-a-y wedding.

* Darlene & David's baby was never credited. It likely was at least 2 or 3 different babies that played the role.

* During Seasons 3 & 4, besides Crystal & Jackie, Rosey's best friends were: Nancy Thomas (nee Bartlett, then eventually "just Nancy,") Bonnie Watkins & Anne-Marie Mitchell (Adilah Barnes.) However, they never once all appeared in 1 show together.

* In '07 Roseanne was chastised in the press for making h-o-m-o-p-h-o-b-i-c statements, saying in part, "And I have never once -- and I say I have g-a-y and l-e-s-b-i-a-n people in my family -- never once in my life have I ever once heard a g-a-y or l-e-s-b-i-a-n person who's politically active say one thing about anything that was not about them. They don't care about minimum wage, they don't care about any other group other than their own self because you know, some people say being g-a-y and l-e-s-b-i-a-n is a totally narcissistic thing and sometimes I wonder. I've never heard any of them say anything except for 'accept me 'cause I'm g-a-y.' It's just, it's screwed up." Many of Roseanne's fans felt betrayed which forced the star to issue an apology through her Web site. Frankly, this fan would have had more respect for her if she would've said: this is how I feel and this is my opinion, you don't like it, that's too bad.

* Many fans agree that the best Becky was actually both: Lecy as the child-Becky & Sarah as the adult-Becky.

* Roseanne and her writers apparently liked the name "Marvin" because it was used more than twice as names for either nonessential characters or only-mentioned characters; such as the time Nana Mary said: I put it on Marvin's grave.

* Michael Des Barres playes another role on "The Miracle" from Season 9, as Dr. Phillips.

* The defamatory g-a-y statements that Roseanne made in April '07 were not the first time she made such comments. In an interview that she did in '92 Rosey referred to a media critic by using some very h-o-m-o-p-h-o-b-i-c words and slurs that appeared in a men's publication.

* In Season 9 it was revealed that Bev never knew who her real father was because she was supposedly born out-of-wedlock. This may be a continuity error simply because it was implied in earlier eps that Bev knew who her father was; also 50 or 60 years prior something like this (children out-of-wedlock) was such a complete anomaly.

* In 1991, during a hiatus, Sarah Gilbert filmed the sleeper "Poison Ivy" which collectively resurrected Drew Barrymore's career but did little to ignite Sarah's budding movie career.

* Since the series has ended Laurie Metcalf has shied away from much of the "Roseanne" publicity and promotion that the rest of the cast has done in celebration of the DVDs.

Roseanne was a popular sitcom from the late eighties and its cast has been given numerous awards for their performances. The series is about a lower class family, living in Lanford, Illinois, struggling through that odd thing we call life. The show has an intrinsic cast and they are a hard bunch not to like. Roseanne looks at some of the most common daily situations from the home and the work place. In most cases these situations turn out to be funny. However unlike some sitcoms that rely on slapstick comedy to make ordinary situations a riot, Roseanne uses witty dialogue to get laughs.

Roseanne was one of the most successful series of the late '80s and early '90s. It always received great ratings and was awarded with 4 Emmys, 3 Golden Globes and 4 American Comedy Awards. The show ran from 1988 to 1997 and ended with one of the most original (and confusing for some) endings in TV history.

Set in small town Lanford Illinois, the show followed The Conners, a blue collar family with a humerous backbone, through the trials of: life, marriage, raising a family, and making ends meet.
