Product Description
Most of the 23 million American men who lift weights do so to get bigger; unfortunately, many of them are going nowhere with watered-down bodybuilding routines that don’t help them actually get stronger. Eric Cressey’s cutting-edge four-phase program, featuring constant progression, variation, and inspiring goals, keeps you focused on increasing strength along with muscle mass, helping you achieve the fittest, most energetic, and best-looking body you’ve ever had-with fewer hours at the gym.

5 out of 5 stars Excellent book   September 16, 2008
I purchased this book because I have read Cressey on T-nation and subscribe to his newsletter. I knew he would be one to write an excellent well rounded routine. It is hard to filter all the garbage routines that just over train an individual on press, press press your way to greatness. I love the balance his book gives you and the total strength you will gain from this approach. I would recommend this book to anyone on any level of fitness.
It is worth the money to buy the Magnificent Mobility DVD mentioned in the book, as well.
Thanks for a great addition to my gym library!

5 out of 5 stars Excellent and Detailed Book   August 6, 2008

Maximum Strength by Eric Cressey is an excellent book which gives an extremely detailed step by step program to build strength.

As a regular gym goer who has just been turning up and doing my routine without making significant gains for a while, I found this book easy to relate to. The book is geared to those that want to get stronger, not necessarily bigger. It was exactly the book I was looking for.

I was a little sceptical of the book when I first flicked through it at the bookstore because it went against what I've been conditioned to think about working out. However, after seeing so many positive reviews on Amazon and online forums I thought I would buy it and try it out.

It reads easily, the pictures and diagrams are easy to follow and the light hearted humour makes it easier to read.

That said, I haven't gotten a single ounce stronger from reading this book. On Monday 11 August I will start my 16 week program and due to finish on Saturday 29 November so hopefully the results equal the quality of the book.

5 out of 5 stars A fantastic book   July 24, 2008

This book is outstanding. Eric has generated a program that will help nearly anyone get stronger, no matter where you're starting out at. The warm-ups themselves are worth the price of the book, and the program itself is amazing.

The exercises are clearly described and the pictures really help illustrate the intent of each exercise. Overall, a very, very good product.

5 out of 5 stars Great Book   July 23, 2008

Maximum Strength is an excellent book that provides the reader with everything they need to get stronger in 16 weeks. Besides including a well detailed 4 phase weight training program, Eric also includes many extras such as warm-up routines, mobility exercises, and soft tissue work that will make you feel great as well as increase your strength. Great advice on nutrition and future training as well. Maximum Strength really is a book that anyone in weight training or looking to start, should read.

5 out of 5 stars Complete Solution for Increasing Strength   July 23, 2008

A great holistic approach to increasing strength. You get warm-ups with foam roller and mobility exercises, 4 day a week upper/lower body split routine, nutrition suggestions and even a chapter on the "muscle between your ears". I plan on finishing the 16 week routine by end of October and then repeating it next February.
