Product Description He was young and talented--a golfing phenom with the whole world in his hands...and a killer on his trail...
He made the whole world go weak at the knees. With his skill, grace, and innocence, young golfing phenom Buddy Martin even won over the cynical press corps. And with legions of fans following his every move, Buddy Martin was headed for the promised land: a victory at this year's U.S.Open on Long Island's famous Shinnecock Hills golf course.
But somewhere between the fairways and the sea, between the fog that rolled in at night and the fates that haunt heroes, tragedy would strike Buddy Martin and the one person who really knew him.Now legendary golf writer John Morris and his friend, Julia Sullivan, are delving into the life and times of a golfing great. And what they find is a story more amazing than the myth itself: a story of love, loss, and murder....

murder at the US Open March 2, 2008 A hot young golfer (no, not Tiger) is setting the PGA on fire and is making his first appearance at the US Open in Shinecock Hills. But is this mysterious young golfer who he says he is? After a couple of exciting rounds, a car accident similar to Chappaquidick occurs and we see someone has been murdered. A whole cast of agents and golf equipment reps are suspects, and Morris and Sullivan are sorting them all out. Once the killer is known, however, there is the difficulty of getting the evidence to prove it. Or maybe, to prove the killer had killed before. This was my first Logue book - a good author with an entertaining combination of mystery and golf.
Chris D. Miller Place NY-MUST READ November 8, 2004 READ THIS BOOK This book is a very fast action packed suspense murder book. It is about a young boy named Bobby Martin that works really hard and acheives his goal to the U.S Open at Shinnecock Hills on Long Island in 1995. When he gets there all of a sudden an uexpected murder occurs. This book is really fast reading and I read it in about 3 days. Another thing that is good about this book is the author Mr. Logue, knows alot about golf which is a good thing since this book is all about golf. He puts alot of details in this book. For those of us who aren't lovers of golf, John Logue's golf mysteries are a revelation. And for those of you who are, don't miss out on this wonderful series. This is the best volume yet -- it's funny, engaging, engrossing, well-plotted, and much better written than the usual run of mysteries.
