Product Description Award-winning Illustrator, Michael Monroe brings Foursome the Spider to life for kids this fall. Combining a theme of golf and children's entertainment, Larry Nestor's narrative introduces Foursome, a wonderfully kind-hearted spider that shows insects from around the world in a bug museum how to play golf and be friends - "Kindness and Consideration to All". Follow Foursome's exploits while he introduces the game to a variety of other insects. Michael Monroe follows Foursome around his "museum course" and brings to life a colorful cast of endearing insects. "Once inside the museum, the spider found an empty corner of the large room and built his web. Afterward, he collected a tiny twig and several small white seeds and began using the twig to knock the seeds back and forth below his web. Foursome soon grew tired of remaining in his corner and longed to venture out into unknown regions of the museum. He decided to aim for the tree in the center of the museum. Foursome lined up his shot, took a deep breath, and hit the seed forward into an area of tall grass.." And now Foursome's adventure begins and he meets a grasshopper who would become his caddie and help him find his golfing seed with its vast jumping ability. This is the first of Foursome's many friends who all become best buddies and learn about golf along the way.

Living with a spider March 5, 2006 Another cute book for the younger children. Children love books in which insects are given human likenesses. In a childs mind this book could very well be true. Foursom is like any child of a young age.

This book had my two children (ages 6 and 8) bouncing up and down and giggling as I read it to them. They loved the story of Foursome's golfing adventures and crowded to see the colorful artwork, especially the spider's whimsical argyle pattern! After the book was over, we had a good discussion on getting along with people, making new friends, and trying new things.

A GREAT BOOK FOR KIDS & A GOOD REMINDER FOR ADULTS TOO! December 26, 2001 6 out of 7 found this review helpful
Foursome the Spider shows Children & Adults in Colorful & Creative Simplicity that "We all benefit by getting along together" (a knowledgeable trait we adults like to teach our children but not always follow). Also highlighted in this book is a non-violent sport that is challenging as well as rewarding. For no matter how bad your game or day is, the game of golf is played in a relaxing, picturesque & tranquil environment. Hopefully one day my children will generate interest in the game of golf from this book and who knows, maybe become the next Tiger Woods? TJN
