5 out of 5 stars Jensen's Unique Perspective Shows How Success in Golf Parallels Success in Business   May 14, 2008

I've had the pleasure (and the great learning experience) to spend a lot of time around Dr. Rick for the past decade as he coached my wife when she was playing competitive golf on the mini-tours. I've also had the pleasure to work with Dr. Rick as we've been on programs together speaking at golf industry events (I'm the warm-up act and he's the main event). I offer these facts as a warning that I'm a very biased fan of what he is all about.

And what he is all about is digging down and figuring out what are the essential elements that create success in sport - and in particular - golf. As a performance consultant to the best golfers in the world and the best businesses in the world, he has developed a unique viewpoint of how key inputs for success in golf are identical to the key inputs for success in business. These parallel tracks to success are unveiled and detailed in Drive to the Top in a most memorable way.

This is a book that uses easy to remember anecdotes and stories about the world's greatest golfers to paint a clear picture of how to become more efficient and successful in the world of Wall Street and business in general. Dr. Rick has put together a crisp manuscript that can be throughly digested on a quick flight from Chicago to New York, but whose message and insight will stay with the reader for the rest of their career.

Dr. Rick has poured so many great insights into this book, it should be required reading for MBA candidates. The chapter on benchmarking alone will pay you back many times the price of this volume. If you love golf and you love business, this book has to be in your personal library.

I have had a chance to hear Rick in person and now I get the added pleasure of seeing his stories and thoughts in print. He puts complex ideas into simple lessons that every leader can and should think about and employ in their work. He challenges champions to become the best they can be. This is a must read for everyone, whether they like golf or not.
