Editorial Reviews:

Product Description
This book discusses the issues involved in applying and interpreting the United Nations Convention on Contracts for the International Sale of Goods (CISG). It offers a thoughtful discussion of the historical background of the Convention and its predecessor treaties and of the treaty process itself. The author places the CISG at the vanguard of a current evolution of private international law and "transnational law." The relationship between the CISG and the UNIDROIT Contract Principles is considered. The author draws on the best of current international commentary to provide a rich background of contrasting views.

Practical discussions of international research, jurisdiction of U.S. federal courts over CISG cases, use of international authority by U.S. courts, dispute resolution and suggested contract clauses are included. The content is structured for use in a 2-credit law school course or by attorneys seeking a basic understanding of international sales.

An appendix includes the full text of the CISG, the UNIDROIT Contract Principles and a number of related treaties including the 1958 Arbitration Convention and the 2005 Choice of Court Convention.
