Product Description
Originally written for the pulp magazines of the 1920s and 1930s, H. P. Lovecraft's astonishing tales blend elements of horror, science fiction, and cosmic terror that are as powerful today as they were when they were first published. This tome brings together all of Lovecraft's harrowing stories, including the complete Cthulhu Mythos cycle, just the way they were first released. It will introduce a whole new generation of readers to Lovecraft's fiction, as well as attract those fans who want all his work in a single, definitive volume.

Read this - and condemn your soul to eternal torment August 28, 2008 'Necronomicon: the complete Weird Tales' of H.P Lovecraft in its hardcover edition is a beautiful book - a bibliophiles dream. Suitably tome-like, all it really needed was a tassel to complete the look. The typeset and illustrations are really appropriate and unlike some I appreciated the biography on H.P Lovercraft contained in the rear of the book. Reviewers have also noted that 'Necronomicon: the complete Weird Tales' is not a complete collection of Lovecraft's work - but it never claimed to be, instead it collects those works written for legendary pulp magazine 'Weird Tales.' At 878 pages there's plenty of material for readers to sink their teeth into, and all the classics, such as 'The Dunwich Horror,' 'The Shadow Out of Time,' and 'Call of Cthulhu' are included. Buy this book and saraband yourself across aeons of time into the curious, antique world of H.P Lovecraft. Park yourself under a gibbous moon and read these eldritch tales of cyclopean architecture and primordial terrors. You will traverse dimensions of time and space and have an indescribably sinister experience of unspeakable horror.
a great edition July 3, 2008 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
i was impressed with the look and feel of this book. i received the hardcover last night. cool illustrations as well. maybe not the most lavish nor complete volume, however, for the price you can't beat it.

Not the greatest collection, but ok June 26, 2008 When I pre-ordered this, I assumed it was the complete work of Lovecraft. I already had and loved Dreams of Terror and Death: The Dream Cycle of H. P. Lovecraft and The Dunwich Horror and Other Weird Tales and was looking for something more definitive. Unfortunately, as others say, it is not his complete work, but mostly well-known tales - and in no particular order or grouping.
The paperback binding does feel a little cheap, but nothing too horrible. I love the inclusion of the Miskatonic Quadrangle inside the cover and the drawings are stunning. It seems like the publishers poured all their money into the paper, type, and pictures (which are all great) - then remembered they needed covers.
A note on the pictures: Yes the pen-and-ink drawings are amazingly done, but some of them have absolutely nothing to do with the story they are grouped with. Repeated images are a little annoying as well.
If you're looking for a paperback collection of 37 of Lovecraft's most well-known stories, then this "Commemorative Edition" is worth it.
HP.Lovecraft collection June 13, 2008 4 out of 5 found this review helpful
Received my copy, nice cover for a softcover book and a excellant if incomplete collection of Mr.Lovecraft's works, unluckily due to ownership and rights issue probably the closest we'll ever come to a complete collection of his works. Nice drawing included with each story make for a suitable atmosphere to enjoy the stories with.
Not as described May 27, 2008 5 out of 7 found this review helpful
I agree, I purchased this item due to its billing as a complete collection of Lovecraft's stories. Sadly, it's not.
