Product Description
"If you know anything at all about John Daly -- and if you don't, what in the hell are you doing with this book in your hands? -- you know he approaches the game of golf from a, uh, slightly different perspective than your average two-time major winner. How different? Well, for starters, Long John thinks the PGA Tour ought to permit Bermuda shorts, make carts mandatory, let him wear his hair down to his butt if he wants to, and strip-search tournament patrons at the entrance gate to keep cameras and cell phones off the course.

In Golf My Own Damn Way, you'll take a virtual ride on Big John's magic bus as he tells you the best way to grip it so you can rip it. Looking for a sure cure to bunkerphobia? It's here. A one-hour golf lesson that's 100 percent guaranteed to make you a better golfer? Ditto. Want to know why you should occasionally leave your big dog in your trunk, how to watch your weight, and what golf and sex have in common? You came to the right book.

And while he's busy explaining all these and many other things, Daly also tells you why you should keep your head out of the game, let your belly lead your hands, listen to your right foot, check your ball position -- and buy a hybrid (the club, not the car).

Following in the spike prints of his 2006 bestselling autobiography, My Life In and Out of the Rough, Golf My Own Damn Way is an off-the-wall and intensely personal yet imminently practical and accessible tip sheet on how to cut ten strokes off your score -- now.

Two things are certain: you've never seen a golf instructional book quite like this one, and you'll never need another one.

Fairways and greens, Pard!"

5 out of 5 stars Informative, Entertaining, and most of all Hilarious!   November 18, 2008
John Daly is by far my favorite golfer of all time!

I've read this book as well as "My life in and out of the rough" and highly recommend them both. This is certainly a quick read with many tips on improving your golf game, some being very technical while others are just funny (but still useful). There are also recommendations on different ways to play/gamble/have fun with the game as well.

This book is a great follow up, or starter read for anyone who would like to get to know John Daly as a golfer or as a person. I found this book extremely well written and a joy to read. It actually had my laughing out loud at some of the amusing content.

I recommend this book to any sports/golf fan, anyone who would like to improve their golf game without putting to much effort into it, or anyone who has ever heard of John and would like to hear about some of his accomplishments and failures. It is a great book that should be in any golfers book collection!

1 out of 5 stars Grip it and rip it, up and throw it away   March 10, 2008
Not sure what this book is all about. There are some useful suggestions, but nothing that can't be found elsewhere in every golf magazine ever published. Pretty much just the musings of a washed up almost folk hero. Although I do hope he gets back on his game this year.

5 out of 5 stars Already improving golf game   February 20, 2008
I was reading this book in the bookstore and found a lot of good information....Before reading the book I was hitting my driver only 200 yards with a major slice and after reading it....believe it or not....I was hitting my all of clubs way further...3 wood was going 240-250, 7 iron usually went 155 yards but now 165-170, 8 iron about 160, 9 iron 145-155, I crushing the ball, besides the belly turn the whole mentality aspect of the game he discusses made a major difference in hitting more accurate shots...I have now bought the book after seeing the effects on the golf course
