5 out of 5 stars Management of Aquatic Recreation Resources   June 4, 2007
The Management of Aquatic Recreation Resources is a combination of two books published earlier by the authors, Swimming Pool Management (Parks and Recreation Series), and Recreation Management of Water Resources (Parks and Recreation). The book focuses on the problems associated with managing public and private swimming pools, lakes, beaches, streams and rivers. It is designed to meet the needs of two groups. First the book will be useful to college students majoring in recreation and park administration or leisure studies who need to be knowledgeable about the area of aquatic management. Second, it is also designed to be used by the pool manager or lake manager who is responsible for managing aquatic facilities and programs.

It is our intent to provide the principles, guidelines and practical management tools for planning, developing and managing water resources effectively and efficiently with the goal of providing a safe, high-quality experience for the recreational user. The book does not deal with aquatic skills - for example, how to teach swimming, how to paddle a canoe, or how to effect a river rescue. It focuses on the planning, development and management tasks that are necessary to provide the facilities and programs for people of all ages to enjoy aquatic activities.
