 An incredible book August 30, 2008
John Eldrege gives us a look into events of his own life and how God has used them to speak to him. Really! Are you ready to hear from God? A must read for anyone who is listening. Thanks John

First, I purchased the audio book version of this title. The fact that it was read by the author is an extreme bonus because the listener gets to hear the inflection in his voice and discern the points of emphasis of the author. It also let's you hear the humor and the heart of the author.
The content was tremendous. Like any book, some readers will have theological differences. My encouragement is to look for the wheat - there is a ton of it! It models how to deepen your intimacy with God and develop your ability to hear His voice on practical matters of life. Come as a child trusting God to teach you. To summarize another author, "Don't let what you know keep you from what you need to know...come as a novice."
This book will help you learn to walk with God in the "cool of the day" and hear His voice.
As a side note, I purchased the hardback book as well to enable me to go back and note key principles for hearing His voice.

I know......my title sounds like a description of a car ("best in it's class!") but, seriously, I found this book to be so unique and refreshing in the midst of our modern "3 steps to fixing everything" mentality. I must confess that this book was not as "gripping" for me as some of Eldredge's earlier titles but it more than makes up for it. First of all, it's practical nature is almost unheard of in modern Christian writings. Eldredge doesn't just say we SHOULD walk with God....he shows us how he actually DOES walk with God. Oh, how this is needed today. I believe we have forgotten how to truly hear God......know God.....walk with God. We know we should but what does that look like? Secondly, I appreciated his transparency. Eldredge has always been "real" but he takes this a step further in this book as he is very open about many of his inner struggles and temptations; subjects that are taboo for much of Christendom's literature. So......I highly recommend it and am already putting much of it to practice. Oh, and by the way.......I'm learning you really CAN hear from God. Huh....

If you have ever wanted a mirror into John Eldredge's "real" life- you know, the behind the "famous author" scenery that the public sees- this is the book for you. I am only half way through, but I just had to review it now and encourage you to read this book. This is a read best taken in small bites. I have read only a page or two at a time, then taken off to think and pray about what John has shared. This book is a spiritual stretch. Enjoy!

It's hard not to enjoy the works of John Eldridge. He has his finger on the spiritual pulse of what it means to strive to be a godly man. Treat this book as a daily devotional because there are truly heartfelt and personal thoughts that John has depicted as a daily personal journal. He has also created a unique format that includes a live video of select entries from John's teaching on this personal journal. Oswald Chambers gave us an daily look at scripture and its application that became a classic devotional component to the Bible. Walking with God has that similar appeal presented in a more contemporary framework that allows us peer into his heart to see what it means to actually walk with the Master.
