Product Description
When words of love do not come to you on their own, then read these letters. Complete, actual love letters of great men like Lord Byron, John Keats and Voltaire. Leaders like Henry VIII, George Washington, and Napoleon, who wrote to his beloved Josephine, 'I awake consumed with thoughts of you...' Artists like van Gogh, Mozart, and Beethoven, who famously penned, 'Though still in bed, my thoughts go out to you, my Immortal Beloved...' Dozens of intimate letters, coupled with over a score of period illustrations. Plus fascinating biographies, and insights into the couples' relationships-how they got there, the obstacles they faced, and what happened next. 4 out of 5 stars Nice Version but It's not the same book as in Sex and the City   November 9, 2008

I bought this as a give, and I thought it was the exact same book that apears in the movie. It's not, but it's still a very nice version.

This collection of love letters from famous men reminds us that men can be moved by emotion too. I read this alone and to my boyfriend who has written such moving letters to me as well and I feel special.

5 out of 5 stars Excellent Book   October 29, 2008

I absolutely loved this book. I found it difficult to put down. It was so nice to have the short biography at the end of each love letter so that you could know something about the man who wrote it. It was also nice to know more about the role the woman he was writing to played in his life. There were so many beautiful words written in those letters. I'm glad the rest of us can get a glimpse of such passionate relationships.

This book was both compelling and interesting. It enabled me to gain valuable insight into many of the intimate feelings of some of the greatest figures in history.
