Product Description
With everything there is to know about the game, this indispensable guide is like having a golf pro by your side at all times. Where better than an official publication of the United States Golf Association to learn the 34 rules of golf? Every four years, the USGA, with The R&A in St. Andrews, revise the rules in an effort to adapt them to new situations that may have come to light in international competitions. Only here you will find the updated complete regulations as amended in 2008 (good until 2011), with more than 100 illustrations designed to make understanding them even easier. Best of all, there’s a particular emphasis on those situations that always seem to cause difficulty for golfers of all skill levels. Obstructions, bunkers, out of bounds, lost balls, unplayable balls, water hazards, loose impediments, casual waters—these are just some of what you’ll find. There are also explanations of when and how you can legally improve your lie, winter rules, and much more. Whether you’re engaged in stroke play or match play, in a friendly foursome or fighting for your club championship, knowledge of the rules will increase your enjoyment of the game and maybe even shave a few strokes off your score.

Valuable tool for learning the rules of Golf April 18, 2008 2 out of 3 found this review helpful
As a high school golf coach, I've used the Golf Rules Illustrated to help the students learn the rules of the game. I really like the anecdotes provided at the end of a chapter on a specific rule, where stories of Phil Mickelson being penalized or Tiger Woods benefitting from the Rules of Golf make the rule a lot more relevant to the students. The Rules also contain helpful pictures/diagrams about the application of the rules in different instances. Great intermediate level tool to teach the Rules of Golf.
