Editorial Reviews:

Product Description
"Want to improve quickly? Read this book. It's good 'fore' you." - Todd Hamilton, 2004 British Open Champion. "Make Your Golf Dream A Reality illustrates basic golf fundamentals in an easy-to-understand format that's simple to try out on your own. I believe the book provides the fundamentals that can help all levels of golfers. Remember, even tour pros work on these fundamentals when they practice." - Fred Funk, 7-time PGA Tour winner. Most mid and high-handicap golfers mistakenly believe that a perfect swing is the only key to golf success. "Make Your Golf Dream A Reality" cuts through this illusion and shows golfers how to achieve lower scores with the swing they already possess. The book identifies typical high-handicapper mistakes and provides a step-by-step system for overcoming these score-killing faults. This system of "smart" golf immediately leads to better scoring without the struggle and confusion of a major swing transformation. Readers learn to pinpoint and correct individual playing weaknesses instead of mindlessly hitting balls on the range and calling it practice. The book walks the reader through accurate game analysis and offers explicit shot-saving remedies that can produce lower scores NOW - not next month, or next year. It is particularly valuable to golfers with limited time for practice. A few hours of serious dedication to the principles in this book can reduce frustration and put the golfer on a steady road to better scoring and a lower handicap. A couple of seasons can produce a 70's shooter and single-digit handicapper. You'll find in these pages a wealth of practical ideas you can use to immediately start improving your golf scores. Unlike books that concentrate on how to swing a golf club, this book is about examining your game and getting the most out of the assets you already possess.

Customer Reviews:

5 out of 5 stars Real Golf, short and simple   September 8, 2008
This is an excellent book written by a guy who picked the game up as a 52-year old hacker. It tracks the path he took to become a single-digit handicapper or, as he calls it, a "real golfer". The book is simple, logical outline of how to approach game improvement. For me, it helped to clear away a lot of the clutter that accumulates in the typical golfer's mind. Great book for anyone wanting to improve their game.

5 out of 5 stars Want to get better? Read this book!!   June 12, 2008
I started reading this book in July 2007. I was a 15-16 handicap, shooting high-80's/low 90's.
I was half-way through the book and really started concentrating on my short game. The chapter on chipping distances around the green was a real stroke-saver. I played in a tournament shortly after reading this chapter and shot a 78 to win the tournament!
About a month later I had got done reading about controlled shots with irons... 7:30, 9:00, 10:30 swings.
I was on a short par-3, wind coming at me and without this book wouldn't have know what to hit.
I went up 2 clubs, played a 9:00 swing and the ball took one hop on the green and into the hole.
My first Hole-In-One in 27 years of playing golf!!!
This book won't screw you up by changing the way you swing the club. Rather, it will let you in on the secrets of how to SCORE BETTER!
Definitely a must-read for anyone looking to lower their scores.

5 out of 5 stars Simply stated, "Make Your Golf Dream A Reality" is one of the most effective and user-friendly instruction guides available   January 8, 2008

Lou Hays took up golf at the age of 52 and some three years latter became a low single-digit handicapper. In "Make Your Golf Dream A Reality" Hays points out that for most mid- and high-handicap golfers, achieving the perfect swing is not the only key to success on the golf course. Hays deftly identifies typical high-handicapper errors and then provides a practical and effective step-by-step system for overcoming these 'score-killing' faults. Golfers aspiring to improve their performance will learn how to pinpoint and correct their individual playing weaknesses as Hays walks them thru an accurate game analysis offering explicit shot-saving remedies that will result in lower scores and an enhanced satisfaction. Simply stated, "Make Your Golf Dream A Reality" is one of the most effective and user-friendly instruction guides available for anyone of any age who aspires to improve their performance (and scores) on the golf links.

5 out of 5 stars A long awaited book to improve any game   February 17, 2007

I've just finished reading this book, and I found it to be interesting and
also very different from any golf book I've ever read. After reading the
introduction, I suddenly began to feel like I'd be shooting 79 someday
before long. The book has only one chapter on long game shots, but
what a chapter! The dozen or so suggestions for solid ball striking all
make perfect sense, and I haven't been doing any of them.

The rest of the book is about ways to shoot lower scores without having to
spend all your time on the range working on the swing. It points out the
common and stupid course management mistakes of high handicappers and
recommends a calmer, more conservative playing style, aimed at cutting back
on the blowup holes. The chapter about how to control distance inside 100
yards probably is what I need more than anything else. At the back of the
book there's a handicap test you can take to find and correct your own
weaknesses, along with a list of things to think about and do before you get
to the first tee box. The whole book is well put together, and it made me
feel positive about the possibilities of getting good at golf.

The book claims that to become a single-digit handicapper you have to spend
only five hours a month on your game, but you have to spend those hours
wisely. As I read, I felt like the author was in my living room, talking to
me like an old friend, and I really believe the methods are going to work. I
enjoyed reading it, and as a higher handicapper, I give it five stars just
for making me look at my golf game in such a new and hopeful way. The price
is right and even if you don't do what it says, it's a very entertaining
read.
